    Metaphysical reads...

We've not had a lot of ongoing discussion threads in our Metaphysical forum,
so I thought it might be nice to start one that we can contribute to meaningfully over a longer period of time.

It might help counteract all the "I can't find my ...xyz" threads

I've just started reading a really interesting book called Dreamhealer by a young guy in Canada called Adam. Adam was able to see & manipulate energy from a very early age, and later turned his skills towards healing people. As an energetic practitioner myself, I can't wait to dive into the details about his methods, compare it with the framework that I work in. He healed a high profile rock star of late-stage pancreatic cancer and has since attracted a huge following.

What's your current or past interesting metaphysical read? Also welcome discussion of any of your favorites, or books that really helped you frame your world view/spirituality/practice.

Not sure if its classified as a metaphysical read, but i've just finished re-reading The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. I first read it in my late teens and whilst it got me thinking i don't think i really followed what was being said. Having read it again it was a nice, albeit simplistic, reminder that if we truly believe in something and really want something bad enough, the universe will help us to achieve our dreams/hopes...

ok, just read (quickly) through that stuart wilde book 'miracles' and it sounds a lot like 'the secret' type thing. positive thinking, infinate power within yourself to make your wants come to be etc. not too sure of this.. a bit skeptical still.

    some bits that made me think though, and what are your thoughts, are;

"when you entered the earth plane, the energy that is the real you left its abode in the higher dimensions of pure light, and entered, by choice, the body youre now in. You chose the circumstances of this life because it was the next step in your infinate evolution, and because this life would allow you to expand what you are spiritually so that you could become an even greater expression of the infinate life force or Living Spirit." page 7-8

my first thought was actually that my babies have chosen to be apart of my life. second thought.. is that talking about past lives? third thought.. what the heck is my lifes purpose?!!??!!! and if i stuff it up, dp i have to do it all again?

"There's just energy-one powerthat pervades all things, and everything is a part of the power. differentiation between good and evil is just perception, for within real energy there is no judgement." page 27

hmmmm.... so say, murdering, raping etc others is not evil??

Hollo, how did you get on with your Stuart Wilde book? I've read some of his, lots of articles from his website too, find him to be very interesting and quite thought provoking too.

I'm currently going through and audio-book and DVD phase...I've got the "Conversations with God" DVD waiting to watch, and have put the Louise Hay "You can heal your life" DVD on hold at the library. I'm also listening to Wayne Dyer doing a "Making the shift" seminar (in Maui, where else ) and I've listened to 2 CDs worth and he hasn't yet got to the point...not sure where it's going TBH but it's easy enough to listen while I'm doing other things around the house.

    Subbing...

I'm in a phase of reading management style books at the moment - but they all have an edge of spirituality to them too. People Glue, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and Fish!.

But I don't think that's what you mean, MD! I've read a lot of books over the years and I can't think of one to point out right now (they're all in the bedroom and DH is settling DS to sleep in the lounge, so I can't go look!). I'll be back later when I've thought it through!

Pixie - we're all happy to help with the 'can't find my xyz..' stuff still!

I'm into spirituality books atm and am reading Dance of the Dissident Daughter about sacred feminine. I also have a few books on earth spirit spirituality (kind of like paganism).

    bump...

I'm (trying to read) The Authentic Tarot, Discovering your inner self, by Thomas Saunders. Its about the Ancien Tarot de Marseille. I feel like I've been reading it forever, and last night when I closed the book to go to sleep, I was more than just a little surprised to see that I was only up to page thirteen!

Is that the Eric Pearl one? I know someone who went all the way thru the training etc, I'll be interested to hear what you've got to say about it.

MD - yes it is. One of my friends is a practitioner and he's just finished treatment on me, he gave me the book. We were playing with energy fields the other day, it is quite a totally different feeling with that energy compared to any other energy work I've done before.

It was also amazing how my body reacted in session 1 compared to how it did in session 2.
