Suggestion to make a nicer energy in a room

Our dining room has a really bad 'feel' to it at the moment. The cat and dog have decided that this is an excellent place to throw up. The cat also decided that this was an excellent place to bring in a bird - DH rescued the bird from his mouth but it later died from shock.

We don't use the area much as the table annoys me (it was broken in the move, we fixed it but it doesn't work properly). We have had people over for dinner but it is fairly squashed.

Any suggestions on how to fix the energy of the room. I was thinking of using a smudge stick and meditating to clear the energy - but any longer term suggestions would be good.

The room is part of a combined lounge dining area, and it is in the smaller part of the L.

I would start by brightening up the room are there any windows? Can you place some mirrors on the wall to reflect some light around? I would definitely go the smudge stick, even some frankincense on charcoal if you have it, great for cleansing and protection.

Maybe read up on some feng shui and move around/decorate accordingly?

    Some plant life?
Get rid of the annoying table and get one that fits the room?

just an overall cleansing of the house to clear the negativity and to start a fresh.

I guess a good tidy up would be a start

    Fresh flowers ... a bright lamp ...

Seeing fresh flowers always brightens my mood.
