I went to the GP yesterday to get my IUD removed. After much poking and prodding she couldn't find the strings I was referred for an ultrasound but they couldn't get me in for another 7 days!! I was quite stressed about it as I have been experiencing quite bad pain/cramping and bleeding so I went and sat in the ER for 7 hours...eventually got my my ultrasound (they also did an internal ultrasound). They seem to think the IUD is still where it should be but that the gyno may have cut the string too short.
I have an appointment with the gyno on 23rd Feb (earliest I could get in ) Do you think he will be able to get it out? He's only working out of the medical centre) or what if he can't? What will happen??
I am really worried about this!
Oh I don't blame you for being worried. I'm scared of his happenin to me too as the gyno cut mine extra short cos dh could 'feel' it iykwim. Hope it goes ok. I'm sure they'll be able to get it out if it's still in the right spot x
they should be able to get it..
if not he may try some local aneasthetic gels and dilate the cervix slightly to remove it.
worst case would be a D&C sorry..
i had this happen to me, and it was because my cervix was facing posterior so very difficult to locate and reach. but a little local helped me relax and the gyno reach it..wasnt comfy but got it out
this just happened to a friend...she went to gp he said it had moved and couldnt find it so he refered her to a gyno and she went for a ultrasound first ultrasound showed it was where it was ment to be so she went to gyno and he got it out, friend said it was a bit uncomfy but nothing worse than a papsmear. If you need more details i can ask my friend just pm me.
Thanks girls, you have put my mind at ease. I can handle a bit of discomfort, even pain, as long as he can get it out that day, in his office, LOL.
Party of five......It would be great if you could get some info off your friend and PM me I would appreciate it.
