    Threads poking DH

When we DTD my DH is getting poked and stabbed by the coil threads and it really off putting and sometimes painful for him. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem? What did you do to fix it? Can it be fixed or do I have to get it taken out?

    TIA,
    Dan

Hmmmm I didn't have this problem, but could it be due to his, *ahem* length? Whoever inserted it should be able to snip the strings shorter for you.

Dan, my ob told me that many doctors cut the cord too short when fitting the mirena and this is what causes the problem of it being able to be felt, because the end is sharp. With mine, she left the threads longer and curled them around. It seemed to work, DH never once felt them. Perhaps you could ask your doctor about this and see if they will redo it for you?

I might have a go at curling them around myself. I really don't want to get it out because it is just working so well and is really convenient. If I can't I'll have to pop on in and see my OB again. Thanks for the tips ladies.

I went back to my OB and he gave me two options. He could cut the thread so that it was totally inside my uterus and no cord would be in my vagina at all (to remove it will would have to dilate your cervix and use a IUD hook to get it, no big deal he assured me) or he could wrap it around my cervix. I picked the wrap around and haven't looked back. It hasn't moved and there has been no complaints from DH since. He said that the poking can be the cord was cut to short initially or sometimes it kinds curls up on itself and so the cord are shorter (hope that makes sense). That is what happened to mine. I wasn't comfortable with not being able to feel the cords, you know just for the reassurance it's still there but OB warned me before we started that might be my only option.

My Ob, actually made cords curl too, Never had a problem DH has never felt them. But my SIL and BIL had a big problem with this and once actually one went into the the eye of his penis causing significant pain to him (sorry for TMI), Is it bad that i know this much about SIL & BIL sex life???

Also my Ob suggests not to feel for thhe threads as if I most women find them very hard to feel and panic if they cannot.. I have had ultrasounds different purpose and check ups and Mirena had not moved.
