TMS: I have had both experiences. I had a D & C for a 12wk baby and then i chose to m/c at home (with the help of misoprostal) for a 7wk miscarriage. I was given pain relief for the one at home and the pain was quite manageable but i don't think I was really prepared for what i would see. I didn't realise there would be as much in the way of clots etc at that stage (though at no stage could i identify baby). I feel i made the right decision for me at the time but i do remember finding it emotionally harder than the D & C (more confronting) and thinking that i don't know if i would choose that option again. Another thing to consider: 11wks may be different to 7wks. Baby may have grown a fair bit. I remember my OB telling me that for a baby sized 10wks or more you'd probably want some really good pain relief if you were miscarrying and might need to go to hospital for that.
I'm so very sorry you have lost your baby and have to make this decision.
When I m/ced at home, I ended up at hospital because of the pain... I don't know what I passed because it happened while I was on the toilet...
Goodluck honey, sorry I couldn't help more... Thinking of you xox
Sorry hun.. I mc this week too... but only 5.5 weeks and I was surprised at how much blood there was. I don't have any advice to give but I do give my empathy. Sorry for your loss.....
