    Books for children explaining stillbirth

Hi guys. A friend of mine has lost her son under tragic circumstances (hospital negligence) at 22w6d. She has an 8 year old son who as of yet doesn't know what has happened, because his mum doesn't know how to explain it to him. I'd like to send her some books appropriate for a child his age that will help her explain it all to her son, as well as help him cope. Thanks

"We were going to have a baby, but we had an angel instead" is the first one I thought of. Might be a touch young for him - I think it's aimed at 3-6? - but still worth a look.

Are there any specific topics your friend wants to talk to with her son? Like the process of what happens next, the funeral, etc.? Or just a general "our baby died" sort of thing?

So sorry to hear, may baby rest free, and the parents (or just mum?) find peace with what happened someday And I know I don't have to say it, but you know you can talk to all of us here if you have something you want to get out

Thanks babe. He's a very inward kid and she's in a daze right now, so really just more along the lines of coping and understanding that his mum isn't pregnant anymore and his brother is gone I'll check "We were going to have a baby" out.

I'll ask around some of my support groups too, I know there's more out there... I'm more in tune with books for subsequent kids, for obvious reasons.

Okay, apparently another two are "Ethan's Butterflies" and "Something Happened" - I haven't read any of these, so you might want to check up on them yourself
