confused...thought i had af now positive hpt

    hi everyone,

i had a m/c at 9 weeks in nov and we have been trying again this cycle, i wasn't really sure when i ovulated because my cycles were still a bit all over the place since the m/c, anyway i was expecting af last thurs or fri but started spotting on tuesday and it got heavier the next few days so i thought it was af, however my boobs were still swollen yesterday (it usually goes away once my period starts) so today i did a hpt which is positive, im so confused, is this likely to be an early m/c and the test is just showing positive because there is some hcg left in my system. i still have red blood on wiping (sorry for tmi)

i guess what im asking is is there any chance things will be ok or have i lost this little one too ?

I'm sorry for you loss of your precious angel in November.

I think maybe you need to see the doctor because they will be able to run some blood tests and tell you what is going on. Have you done any other HPTs since your m/c in Nov that were negative? There may be an outside chance that you still had some HCG in your system from your previous pregnancy which is giving you a positive HPT. Talk to your doctor, s/he will give you a much better idea.

I really hope that this is a BFP for you and you go on to have a happy and healthy 9 months. Good luck.

Just Me: thanks for your reply, i did a hpt following my m/c and it was negative so i know this one is from a new pregnancy, i might do a few more hpt over the coming days to see if the line gets lighter or darker and then go and see the dr next week if things are unchanged, i would have been so happy seeing a bfp this morning if i hadn't been bleeding for the past 6 days !

kitt3n: thanks ! i thought that implantation would have been a lot lighter than what i had, although it was by no means heavy it was certainly more than just spotting....so confusing !

Ok i hate to be little miss negative but i would suggest you head off to the Dr sooner rather than later. I had what i thought was AF for f days and then nothing for 5 days then spotting on wiping, i had a +BHCG. Im sorry to say that it was an ectopic and while i hope this is not what is happening to you there is that risk and you need to have it ruled out. Mine ruptured while i was in hospital, i am very glad i didnt wait to see a Dr.

Again i am sorry to be negative, i hope all is ok! Please let us know what the Dr says!

hi Tegam: this may sound like a silly question but is there any point going to the dr yet, its not like they would be able to see anything on ultrasound yet.....i could have some hcg's done (i have a form for 2 tests) but again i don't know whether there is any point while im still bleeding, i understand it will give me an idea if the levels are increasing or decreasing but im sort of feeling i should just wait it out as there is nothing they can do anyway.......

If you are getting positive pregnancy tests and are bleeding, ofcourse there is a point to going to the doctors.... "if" it is an etopic, you dont want to leave it.. Better safe than sorry. If its not.. dont u want to know whats going on? Yes, it could be an early misscarriage... it also might not be...? You wont know till u ask your doc to find out whats going on.

Goodluck sweety I hope everything works out xo

exactly what i was going to say. What if your AF wasnt an AF? Do you know how far you are? They can pick up on things every early in an US.....

Its just not worth the risk in waiting and there is no harm in asking....

hi all thanks for your replies, i started bleeding a week ago on what was cycle day 32 and i was expecting af around day 34 so i wouldn't even be 5 weeks pregnant yet, i still have bright red blood on wiping (not enough to need a pad). i will go and get a hcg done tomorrow, i guess im in denial to some extent, if i get bloods done and they are dropping i'll know where this is heading, i just can't believe it would be going up and be ok with this bleeding for a week now......

just a quick update, my hcg was 54 which puts me at 4 weeks (a few days less than what i *should* be), will have another blood test friday but im not expecting it to rise, im still bleeding bright red blood so it isn't looking very hopeful. i also got an ultrasound form so might go and get that done if the numbers happen to rise (which im sure they wont)
