when a line appears within the test time frame, it can be assumed that it's due to levels of HCG - after the 10 minutes, the line can, and often does, fade - particularly if your levels have only just been high enough to register.

i've had 3 early losses in the past 12 months, and like BW, my losses have felt very similar to what you've described - a lot more painful than normal AF, and heavy bleeding for a shorter time - with lots of clotting (which i have never had on a "normal" AF). i would honestly suggest, if you're still experiencing pain, or stop start bleeding, you put aside the visit with the moron doctor, and take yourself to your GP - someone who you trust. they can do BT's to see what HCG level you have (if not back to zero), and investigate WHY you're bleeding off and on - it's possible you've had an incomplete early loss.
