I'm just wondering if anyone else has had any trouble with their hand where the IV bung was put in after their curette??
I had mine put in last Thursday at 1:30pm before I was induced & it wasn't removed until about 10am Friday morning, since then it was ok. But ever since about Monday morning it has gotten really sore, come up all bruised, if you run your finger over the vein that it was put into it is really hard (the vein) & my fingers are a bit achey on that hand.
Is this a normal reaction???
I'm off to my Dr on Friday anyway but just thought I would see if I am freaking myself out over nothing.
When Jacob was born, I had the IV line in for some time also and my hand was pretty darn sore to touch, and it was definitely bruised. The bruising is quite often from bleeding under the skin from the vein a bit, but it's definitely not uncommon for the area to be sore and bruised like that.
I had exactly the same thing happen after i had Noah... I ended up back at the Dr's because it was painful... i was given antibiotics and told to buy Hirudoid Cream and apply it 3 times a day... after a few days, everything was back to normal
I hope your hand feels better soon
Lisa
Kirsty - I've had many IV's over my time and get the same problem everytime (mine used to be in for a week at a time though so my veins are probably stuffed). You can get a cream (over the counter these days I believe) "hirudoid" or hiradoid I think (it has been a while) that I used to use to help calm the bruising and in turn the pain - might be worth asking your chemist or doc about if it doesn't ease up (mine used to take for ever to go away and I was always bumping the lump making it worse. HOpe it calms down for you soon.
Aww Hon, your just havin such a rough trot ATM!
For me it usually takes them four or five goes in different areas to get it in and most of the time it 'blows out' so for a few days my arms are so sore and bruised and I wear long sleeved tops incase people think Im a
