10 years ago i had a scan for dates ultrasound, i was told baby messured 8 weeks , but no heart beat, i was booked in for d&c the next day, and baby was removed, i never had any other testing and i always wish i had waited i have this gut feeling nothing was wrong with my baby it just haddnt got big enough to see a heart beat, has anyone ever been told no heart beat, and they where wrong?
I was anxious that things were missed when I went for my d&c although I had a heart beat the week before.... I think it's normal to feel a bit like that, I guess that's why some people want to wait for it to happen naturally. I just wanted it over so I could start trying again. I'd be pretty surprised if it was viable at eight weeks unless the dates were wrong....
So sorry you have been feeling this way for so long
I haven't had a miscarriage but with all my really ultrasounds there has been a visible heartbeat. My current pregnancy there was a visible heartbeat at 6wks 2d. With my first I was 8 weeks and the was a heartbeat. By 8wks there will be a heartbeat.
For our mm/c our bub also measured 8wks (at 10.5wks) and had no h/b. Once you get past 7wks there should definitely be one and we had seen the h/b at 7wks. Even so, I had the same doubts as you (even with the very, very thorough u/s our OB did), mostly because I didn't want the mm/c to be true. We opted to have genetic testing done after the d&c and I found those results (2 chromosomal issues) helped eliminate those doubts.
I think it's probably very normal to feel that way. At 8wks you should definitely have seen a heartbeat as that starts between 6-7wks.
I have been through a loss myself , i made them double check to see my baby definiately had no heart beat before i allowed them to perform the d & c my head was telling me things were ok but in my heart i just knew things weren't that way......sadly my baby had passed and the d&c was carried out. I think about the baby i lost every day even after almost 8yrs it doesnt get any easier ( well for me it hasn't).
