I have no idea if my pregnancy is a molar pregnancy or not as yet. All we know for certain is that there seems to be nothing in my uterus, no gestational sac or foetus, no yolk sac and no foetal pole. But, the hCG levels have risen from 49 to 620 in a week.
So, I am wondering, to anyone out there who has had a molar pregnancy, do you remember your hCG levels? Did they increase slowly or dramatically.
I am really very sorry if this brings up feelings of sadness for some. I will completely understand if there is no one who wishes to reply.
I am just very confused and don't know where to turn to or where to go from here.
Thanking you in advance,
Lisa
I had a missed mc back in July 02, and it was a partial molar. After my D&C the HCG levels were maintained, and some subsequent "grapelike growth" continued to form. I'm sorry, but I can't recall the actual HCG figures.
I had to go and have blood tests every 48 hours to monitor the HCG levels. The levels didn't rise, but neither did they fall off either, for around 2 weeks.
A subsequent AF was slow to return, and when it did (60 days post D&C) it was incredibly heavy and painful, but I finally got rid of all the grapelike matter, and my HCG levels then disppeared.
Not sure if that helps any?
I can totally understand your confusion. I only wish there was more I could do to help?
I'm sorry i can't offer you any advice this time but please know i'm thinking of you and i hope everything is ok.....and someone has the answers you need.
:hugs: this a crap thing to have to go through and there isn't too much info out there that doesn't scare the pants off you.
Like Lucy I too had a partial molar which was discovered when I started to bled at 10 weeks and an ultrasound show no movement but weird growth. Had D&C and got sent to pathology. I had to have blood tests every 48hrs for a wk too to check my HcG levels were dropping in case it recurred. They stayed level for a while then dropped and my first AF was bad too. Then had to wait 3months before TTC to ensure they stayed down and was having fortnightly blood tests to keep an eye on this.
When i was pg with Jake I had to have weekly blood tests to keep an eye on my HcG levels to ensure they didn't go through the roof but can't tell you the counts - sorry.
Lisa, I just googled molar pgcy and they say that a rapid rise in HGC is a sign of it so I am not sure honey. I'm sending u big hugs honey and lots of healthy pgcy vibes *hugs*
Hi Lisa, so sorry hon that you have to go through this. I had a partial molar with twins in May that was picked up on a dating scan, my uterus was bigger than normal for my dates and my hcg was high-ish which is typical of MP. I had a D&C the following day and the pathology confirmed a molar preg. My hcg at the time of my D&C was 97000 (although can go a lot higher) and two weeks later had an hcg of 165. This dropped gradually to <2 in about eight or nine weeks. I am now on monthly blood tests to make sure that they stay low and have been advised not to ttc for 6 months from the time I was <2 which SUCKS. I have discovered a fantastic forum that is all people that have been through a molar pregnancy and their journeys and it has been a saviour for me [mod - site deleted] I hope it can be as much help to you as it has for me. This is such a scary time because it is rare enough that not many people can acutally be of much help but feel free to ask me as many questions as you need, hugs Melissa

It seems odd that they don't see anything in the uterus. I always thought a molar preg would be visible on ultrasound....? Please keep us updated and I'll pray for you.
hi lisa i found out in april that i had a partial molar and there was only a bit of the sac that showed up on the scan it just looked empty and black with a couple of white dots i cant tell you what my hcg levels were as they never told me, they just done tests every week i hope it goes well for you hun it is a horrible thing to go through. do you still feel pregnant ? as i didnt i told the family a couple of weeks before my scan i knew i had lost it and i was right i didnt have any bleeding what so ever just found out at my 12wk scan, keep me informed love lisa
Lisa- It does sound like a molar pregnancy. I do hope all is well for you know cause this thread has been dead for a while.
In the mean time I'd really love to hear more from you wonderfully strong ladies who have been through partial molars- or even worse, molars. I'm kinda dealing with my diagnosis of partial at the moment, but it just seems so surreal.
Isabel.......I posted my details in an earlier post in this thread. I am so sorry to see you are going throush a similar thing. Are you still having your levels tested?
Hi Lucy- Yeah it's kinda a crazy time mentally. I'm having fortnightly HCG tests (but all these other people have ahd them done every two days so it all confuses me a bit) and I'm really lucky at the moment.
Had the D&C 4/11/07 but got married a few days later and went staright overseas for the honeymoon. We didn't know it was partial molar till we got back a month later!
On arrival I had a HCG of 8, then last fortnight was 3, so I'm hoping that I had a 0 on yesterdays test. Its all still VERY new for me.
Haven't really had an AF- still waiting on it so that I can go on the pill. I'm not looking forward to going back to that, but Dr say's we're not allowed to TTC for 12mths. My ob said 6 so I think in June/July I'll lgive him a ring anyway
I am getting annoyed at how they say say "you have to sustain a hcg level of' like it's something we can control. I mean theres nothing I can do other than not fall pregnant again!
Thanks for your hugs and support- I can see myself hanging around a bit as we go through all this. Poor hubby is trying to understand my moodswings LOL.
Maybe ask your GP if her can prescribe Mifepristone? (It is a touchy subject, some will, some won't.) This would enable your body to get back to normal without the need to go back on the pill, I think. (It's a long while ago for me........and I cannot lay my hands on my joural that covered that time.)
I feel for you, I really do. A partial molar on top of all of the chaos of a wedding & a honeymoon.....you poor chook.
BTW, after I had my AF after my molar, my OB gave us the go ahead to TTC again straight away.
(We didn't actually TTC again for another 9 months, but then I fell pg with Olivia (who is now bearly 4) nearlt straight away.)
unfortunately the reason I'd have to go back on the pill is to prevent any pregnancies until the 'high risk' period is over. It just sux going back to trying not to conceive now that we have realised how much we want kids.
