Umm, do I need some help or something?

    ***VERY TMI THREAD***

So, I had my 3rd miscarriage about 6 weeks ago. I didn't go the the doctor or hospital at the time, because I was more confident in myself than I was in the doctors, figured I'd get blown off as usual. I've never needed a D&C, my body tends to do that well, at least.

Today I've started bleeding a lot, changing a maternity pad per hour or slightly quicker. This is fairly normal for me, the level of bleeding. I'm also passing fairly large clots. I went to change pads about an hour ago, and wiped a 'thing', about half palm size. Not a clot, it was smooth, all in one piece, and it had a 'tail' bit, that looked different from the whole. The main part was basically the consistency of an uncooked chicken breast. It looked like my sister's placenta. Maybe if I write small, I don't have to admit it to myself?

After just staring at this 'thing' for a while, I realised that I've been bleeding on and off, mostly on, since the miscarriage. I might stop for a day, but then it'll start again. And in the last week, I've also had a brown discharge that smells quite offensive.

I'm writing this in disbelief, and I'm pretty sure that I need a D&C. I really want to just bury my head in the sand and leave it. I really DON'T want to go the hospital and be blown off again. They're gonna look at me like I'm stupid for not having gotten the pregnancy confirmed medically, not going to the doctor when I miscarried, not paying attention to the symptoms. I suppose I am stupid.

I guess I just want you to tell me that I definitely need a D&C, and that the hospital will agree. Or tell me I'm overreacting and its nothing, and I should just get back to work. And definitely stop crying.

    Oh honey
You know you miscarried and this bleeding is out of the ordinary - You need to go to the doctor and get some medical advice. Do you have a nice GP?

Not a regular one. I was considering just going to KEMH after work, rather than stuffing around waiting days for test results etc.

Thanks for taking me seriously hun

I agree. I think you should get t his checked out. If you go to ER then demand that you be seen and demand that they send your for an US.
Let us know how you go babe - thinking of you xox

You know what, they don't need all the backstory anyway, just say you had a miscarriage and how you're bleeding heaps - I need an ultrasound.

Will be thinking of you - hope you get on ok (is your hubby able to go with you?)

Good advice - you don't need to go into the hows, whats & wheres.

Please, please go to the hospital or GP though. You need an u/s & bloods to find out exactly what is happening. It may even be another pg - this happened to me, I thought it was a previous m/c as I too was bleeding on & off but it was confirmed it was another pg (& unfortunately another m/c)

Also, you are not stupid. I have always m/c naturally & refused to have a D&C too. You do what you believe is best for you at the time & that is what you did.

I don't think they'll make you feel silly. Or at least, I hope they will be sensitive enough to take your concerns seriously and not judge you.
I'm so sorry you're going through this, I really hope you're ok.

Like the others have said, just let them know that you know you've miscarried and that you're still bleeding and you need an ultrasound.
