Palmer is nearly 17 months old and my Mum is REALLY pushing me to TT her as she thinks it's disgusting for any child over 2 to be in nappies.

From her day chart at daycare (which she is in Mon-Fri and if we keep her home without her being ill, we lose our place) I can see she is only getting her nappy changed twice a day. I don't know if this is becuase they are busy or if she only needs it done twice. The leader in the baby room is a bit aloof and won't tell much about anything Palmer does.

So with my Mums pushing, I started putting Palmer on a potty, like she (Mum) said to do. Palmer hates it...she can hardly sit still as it is (just in a normal active toddler way, I mean) and hates to sit on the potty. Cries and etc. But nappy changes have been a screaming and crying battle since she was 8 months!

Twice she has been running around nude just prior to her bath and she put her hand to her crotch (she points - as she does when in a nappy too), which I know to be her wee signal, but there was NO time at all to get her to the potty...she looked down and pointed there literally a split second before she wee'd all over the floor, both times.

We are in a rental and it's full of carpet...to be honest, I don't think she is ready if she can't tell me beforehand that she needs to go...and I don't fancy months and months of tring to clean wee out of our rental carpets.

What do you think? Am I wrong? Is she ready like Mum says? I'm confused becuase I don't want her to be in nappies "too long", but I also don't want to stunt her.
