I read something about this recently too - because they feel the wetness they make the connection earlier. But surely it would also depend on the child in general. Some kids never complain about wet nappies, but others do. My son was in cloth and toilet trained at night at age 2, and then consistently in the day about 2 months later. It was a bit of a surprise!
