Is this a good start?

To spread out the cost, I have started collecting cloth nappies to add to my stash....

What I've got so far:

Pack of 10 Iishfly prefolds (Sml)
4 BBH PUL covers (2 NB / 2 Sml)
7 baby safari AIO pockets side snaps (6 sml / 1 med)

Is this a good start?... If you have any advice regarding NB nappy options I would love to hear it!

They are one size fits all and I have had much success with my son from early on and they also fit my 2 and 1/2 year old daughter.
they are easy to wash, nice and trim, no leaks and not too expensive. Tick all the boxes really

That was going to be my next investment! As I had heard they are good, how many of those do u have in your rotation?

A blog I read said that the inserts shifted with the flip system. do u have this same problem? Have u got any bumgenius 3.0? They seem to be the go haven't read any negatives on them

Hey Zee,
I read a blog that said they "might" move as one of the negatives but then I read the comments and she said they hadn't yet, she just thought they might. No troubles with mobving here. WE have 9 covers and use 2 for DD (2 and 1/2) for nights and when she's at home (Daycare and Nana like disposables) and 7 for 9 week old DS. Thats pretty much enough although newborn poos mean it would be nice to have a couple more.
I don't have any BG 3.0 but the reasons i would still go Flip is the hybrid nature (you can use dispoable inserts) you don't have to wash the covers everytime so they will alst longer and you can use anything as an insert, so any retired other system, prefold, terry toweling etc.

I'm confused are the flips a nappy or just a cover?

They are a cover I guess, but a bit different to other covers with parts that are made of soft stretchy material in contact with the babies skin. Much gentler than other covers I have which meanes you just lay a prefold, insert or booster in the middle, making it really easy to use. There;s some good diagrams out there on the www! You would be able to use your prefolds in tehre when they get too small as prefolds IYKWIM? Also Nurture nappies is having a 10-15% off sale. 15 if you go to their facebook page and leave a message. They ahve Flip and diagrams etc
I hope that hasn't just hadded to the confusion!

Hmmm... so much to take in.... so many cloth options! but I really want to start with cloth if I can otherwise I may get hooked on the convenience of sposies.... Thanks for all your advice and nappy wisdom lol I will check out nurture nappies and maybe get a couple of each and decide once I've tried both...

i also plan on getting some of these types of nappies

I must say though the price is pretty steep, $38 - $45 a piece.

I've thought about making my own but I can't sew to save myself I use the layby option and pay them off...

I cant sew either, but my mum sews so if i get her the materials, she could do it for me.

I just feel that paying over $1,000 for 30 nappies (which is what the Australian Nappy Network) suggests are needed, is far too much for what goes into them. The materials are avail at spotlight or lindcraft so im going to attempt it...and you can even buy patterns for them. It'll probably be a dismal failure, but if so then i'll just stick with flats.

I checked spotlight you can't buy bamboo, organics or PUL etc... only fleece I think - check out the making cloths thread you might find some suggested suppliers for fabric & patterns

yeah i was only planning on buying the flannette, microfleece and terry towling from spotlight. I'd like to use hemp or bamboo but will have to hunt around to find out where to buy it from.
