Hi,

I have no idea what to do with my 4yr old ds and his toileting anymore! He's been tt since he turned 3, so over 12mts (was 4 in Oct).

For the last 4 months he has weeks at a time where he has accidents. These are not just a 'dribble' that sneaks out on the way to the toilet, this is a full blown, running down the leg wee. Sometimes up to 5 a day! Usually happens for a week or so then he's fine for the next 2-3 weeks then it's back on again! He has a pretty good diet (odd bit of junk or lollies) and will only drink milk or water and juice on a special occassion like at a party.

I have tried telling him off for it and using time out, tried taking a toy away for a set amount of time, done the reward charts with outings / toys / special dinner at the end of it. Removing him from play (not time-out) but it mainly seems to happen when he's in the middle of playing and 'forgets' to go so I'll close the playroom door for 15mins, he still can read books, colour in etc... but no access to the main toys. We've also sat down at different times and had a bit of a 'chat' as to why it happens. All he says is his wee is being sneaky and he's too busy playing to go to the toilet.

Nothing is working. I'm going to call the dr today to ask about a poss UTI but am unsure if this is actually the problem. Especially one that comes and goes???

I'm now finding myself getting angry and upset. I'm starting to think he's just being lazy and that makes me really sad to be thinking that about my own child. As a general rule he's a great kid! Other than with with the wet jocks I can't remember the last time he was put into time out for anything.

I've tried talking to friends about this but their children haven't done anything like this, seems everyone else's child tt'd then that was it! No more problems. Maybe I did something wrong in the tt'ing process???? He still has a nappy for nighttime and will quite often wet through it, he's a really heavy night wetter, always has been. Not sure if this is related though???

Anyway, if you managed to get through all that thanks! If you have some advice or something else I could try that would be fantastic!!!!!
