    nappy rash Q

    Hi all,

how long does nappy rash last usually?

DS (3 weeks old) has had NR since last tuesday (only a touch then on one cheek) and nasty rash bit since Sun - it split (bled) when changing a nappy lunchtime-ish on Sun (still one cheek only). I'd been putting paw paw cream (black tube) on some (more than 50% of changes) nappy changes since Tues (I didn't always remember ) as I had been using MCNs during the day, disposables at night (using the paw paw cream night & day changes). Today I swapped to sudocream and disposables full time and the rash has spread from just one butt cheek to both cheeks. Have also changed wipes - was using some huggies "cloth" wipes and today started a coles low allergy wipes (given both packs at baby shower). I have ordered some cloth wipes which I should get tomorrow or Wednesday.

DS has been rather unsettled today and hasn't liked sleeping on his back in his cot and screams in a different way to usual when waking up after sleeping on his back (particularly since this afternoon). He's slept on me for a lot of the afternoon and early evening. His pooping/farting routine has also changed today.

Usually poop 2-3 times in a row while feeding (BF) on the first side, then change nappy, then feed 2nd side.
Today - poop/fart when waking, nappy check &change, feed 1st side, no poop/fart, 2nd side feed - poop/fart, nappy change, re-settle for sleep (rock/hold) poop.
I haven't changed straight away then because he's sleeping and I don't want to wake him so change him as soon as he wakes up/stirs for next feed. He has also struggled to settle for his feeds this afternoon - have ended up giving DS some Infant's Friend to settle and help with his gas problem (he also doesn't like to burp for me )

It doesn't usually last that long - unless its like thrush or something? I'd be taking him to the docs just to make sure babe
