Nappy Storage Solutions?

Hi all,
I'm moving the change table out of ds's room to set up in the nursery for the new baby. It's been my storage spot for nappies/wipes/bags/talc/creams/swim nappies/ pull ups for the last year. I don't know where I'm going to store all that stuff so it's out of ds's reach.

Where does everyone else store their nappy changing bits and pieces?

Lori - we brought one of the expedit shelving units and baskets from Ikea and store all of DSs things in there. We had a change table for the first 8 months but we borrowed it off a friend who needed it back for her new baby.

We have his lamb skin rug laid out on top and that's our change table.

Great thing is, once he's out of nappies we can use it for his toys, books etc.

Lori, If you have room put the change table in a more central spot than the nursery then do so. With 2.5 children in napies I am almost guaranteed to have someone needing a change while there is someone else sleeping in the room the change table is in if it is in a bedroom. If your change table doesnt have enough storage space for 2 kids nappies put a cupboard, chest of drawers or bookshelf next to it. My change table is a chest of drawers so it fits my entire stash in it, and the things that are not safe for the kids to pull out are in the top drawer. You could look at putting childproof latches on it though if you want to keep everything where you put it.

i suppose it depends on where you will change nappies??

we had a change table for DD.. we lived in a two story house, so i used it when we were upstairs, but we spent 90% of our time downstairs, so i used to just change her on the floor in the lounge. i kept all the bits and pieces (including clothes!) in two baskets under the coffee table! they were in arms reach when i sat to change her (id sit in front of the heater)

this time around, we dont have a change table, im buying a change mat (you know the ones you put on a wooden change table) and keep it under the coffee table, and have a basket with all the bits n pieces under there as well. if that doesnt work out- ie. dd1 pulling the basket apart, ill stick it in the tv unit, so that i can grab it out when i need to change.. then stick it back in!

I keep all the nappies in an old chest of drawers that is in a little room off the loungeroom, so just go and grab a nappy when they need a change. DS can't open the drawers cos they are soooo old, it takes both my hands to open the damn thing.

I keep the moogoo near the tv cos I change them on the floor in front of the tv anyway on the rug. Wipes are kept with the moogoo, and I have a container that I fill with water on my way to the changing spot

You can also get these things that hang over the door and are like a stacker. My sister used it for her DD and its already set up in the new babies room when he/she arrives. I think my mum bought it for her from Toys r Us. It has 3 or 4 long packets that can fit containers of wipes and nappies and a bunch of smaller ones for the smaller things like dummies. They hold ALOT of weight but cant be used for sliding doors, only the normal swing doors
