Cloth Nappy similar to Pull Ups??

Hi All

My DS has recently come out of nappies. He has picked up Toilet training much faster that I had expected and in the last 3 weeks has only had 2 accidents.

I would still like to have him in nappies at night and when we go on long outings (just in case), so I have been using pull Ups at these times. So far he has been ok most of the time so i feel that the weekly cost of pull ups is a bit of a waste.

What I am looking for is a cloth nappy that is similar to a pull up in that it looks like undies (well as close as a nappy can get) but still provides the peace of mind during the night or if we are out and about. I have had a look at some of the nappy sites but haven't had any luck. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

look for training pants on clothe nappy sites, most of them sell the but they will be in a different section to the rest of the nappies.

darlings downunder website have a section with toilet training pants. Haven't bought anything, but have seen it there.

cloth training pants:

all in ones (pullup, pulldown)
these are good once your child is poo trained, and just needs odd wee accident protection.

- imse vimse (but not recommended for naps) at nurturenappies, newagenappies

pocket style, they snap up, but once done up, then used as pullup, pull down type
can be boosted with as little or as much boosting as your child needs:
(these are better i think, for a child still ahving poo accidents)

- daddledoo pocket trainers (at her wahmnaps site)

there are the new peapod trainers, and the new tots bots trainers too.

you can get custom trainers made at nooneewilga

heaps of cloth trainers about, just look under TOILET TRAINING, TODDERS, TRAINERS, links like that on MCN sites.

bummi and motherease also make trainers, but i saw them in real life, and they look a bit boofy to me, not trim.

for peace of mind, while out, we used/use toiletting aids from haggus and stokkle site e.g
- potette (portable potty that folds up, very small and light)
- waterproof mat for baby car seat

brollysheet for bed
potty in boot of car, bag with change of clothes, water bottle, loo paper,

Thanks for the info. I just ordered a Blueberry Trainer so will see how it goes before i order a few more. They are not cheap so I was thinking of getting a few cheaper training pants for daytime outings and save the Blueberry ones for night (that way I should only new a few).

Any feedback on Bright Bots training pant they are only $6.95, does anyone know if they are any good? Would only be for trips out during the day, and DS is TT 98% of the time.

We are currently in the same sort of situation and I was worried about accidents while out and about so I bought the blueberry day trainers (PUL lined with just a little padding and still trim enough that DD doesn't confuse them as anything other than undies). I think they're enough for day naps (even though they aren't recommended for that)

I have found I need to stick with disposable nappies at night for the time being -more than anything because I'm now not using enough MCN to make a load of washing worthwhile (ie. only 3 nappies in 3 days)
I've found DD to be a lot more reliable in telling me she needs to go than I thought - no accidents even through a bout of the runs.

I think bright bots are not waterproof. Around the $20 -$24 mark was the cheapest I could find when looking for waterproof 'going out' undies.

What I'm trying to say in all that rambling is, ditch the pull-ups, get a pair of waterproof trainers and stick to cheaper nappies at night - unless you don't have a problem with really small wash loads. That's my two cents.

CrystalBoo, I had just assumed that you could put the cloth nappies in with a normal load of washing (if no accidents)???

The other issue that has now come up is DS wil not wear pull ups as he thinks they are for babies, he ended up sleeping in his undies last night and again tonight. The blueberry trainer I ordered is waterproof so hopefully it's grown up enough for him.

It's kind of funny because i'm the one who is so concerned about accidents and we haven't really had any since the first few days. i feel like i'm holding him back in a way because i'm so worried about having to clean up a bit of wee.

LOL I know what you mean, I worry too when DD would probably be absolutely fine. A lot of people choose to go completely nappiless from day one, nights and all. Mostly it's the mattress that concerns me, even though we have a protector on it.

You could put nappies in with a normal load I guess, but there's the issue of only using a very small amount of detergent with MCN to avoid build up. Your call.
