Passing Down Undies?

Yep. My DS2 is wearing undies that belonged to his big brother. I have never thought there was anything wrong with it.

I don't have any in undies yet but seeing they share MCNs I don't see any issue with it

I don't. My girls are only 12 months apart but still 1 or even 2 sizes apart so there are lots of handed down clothes but I draw the line at knickers. We went to Disneyland just before Christmas and the girls each got a packet of princess knickers from there that are all the same size, but we've sliced open the tags in DD2's so we know whose is whose.

I agree that its far more appropriate environmentally and economically to hand down clothes, but I sometimes feel a little guilty that DD1 is always getting the beautiful new things and DD2 rarely gets anything new.

I have handed down undies between my boys. If they are in good condition, why not? I know they are clean & looked after.

I will not use secondhand ones from other people unless I have rewashed them in hot water & disinfectant.

Yes - in fact DS1 still fits the ones that DS2 wears so if I make a calculation error when i'm packing clothes - it's all good!
I used cloth nappies and second hand ones too. Hand me downs are awesome! It's not about money - the environment needs less clothes wasted. And it sure saves me going to the shops unnecessarily. (that took me 2 goes to spell )

I am super lucky to get so many clothes from my mother's group. But none have ever passed undies on

dd always wears Ds undies. she usually chucks a tantrum if I try to put hers on her! she likes to wear his clothes too though.

My girls are paddock kids so I pass down everything, stained stuff becomes motorbike & paddock clothes and anything not ruined is passed on for the fact it survived

Us too. And mine are different genders.
If the T-shirt survived ds and most did and if I still have them they are handed down to dd to wear around the house and farm agistment. I don't give a toss that they aren't pink. Pinks only end up stained and ruined so it's bad luck for her. Although if the t-shirt is very boyish I have been known to girl it up a bit or give it away. We have a lot of sports team tops and lucky for me they barrick for the same teams so we get away with that fairly easily, phew! DD did want to barrick for a different afl team and I told her she'd have to sleep outside with the dog so she changed her mind......I'm Baaaaaad. lol
She does have girls clothes and she does wear them just not at the farm agistment or when we do anything horsey or yard work. Pants though are girls pants unless they are Jodpers. I bought unisex pull on ones so they are handed down....but ds rides in jeans now so there go's that one.....

Undies though for the same gender siblings and tt think I'd hand them down and throw out number 2's as well.

DD1's undies have been handed down to DD2. All their clothes get washed together, including undies, so if there was any ickiness to be passed on, it would have done so by now

In fact I am now in a dillemma with the undies that DD2 is growing out off. Normally everything either goes to an op shop or a friend, but I was unsure about the undie issue (even though I have passed on nappies)

Pre-schools and child care centres are often grateful for undies (and socks) in good condition so that they can put a clean pair on after an accident.
Women's refuges can use them too because women often turn up with children and they may have nothing except the clothes they stand up in.

I have passed down all of my boys, from one boy to the next. I do stop at Ash though and from there they get thrown out.

a) undies arent cheap!
b) accidents will happen, better in old knickers than brand newies!
c) theyre my kids, they dont know theyre 'old' and i know where the knickers have been!

I only have one dd but won't be handing them down. I don't want to wear anyone else's so the same goes - however I do understand people who do and the theory behind it, particularly nappies.

I didn't even keep dds potty - maybe I'm just weird.

Btw - Salvos won't take undies, bras, nappies etc

Even if I wanted to undies and socks don't last long I this house.... Every few months I buy new ones and throw then old ones out. I don't know why i just can't stand wearing the same undies/ socks over and over again (though they do get washed) so I get everyone new ones. As for not passing down clothes, I just like new.... As soon as I can't get a stain out of something I just can't put it back on them... Not even for yard playing or daycare. I wish I could, would save a lot of $$.

Mummyduck- I have to have new potty etc as well.
