My son who has never had nappy rash EVER came home from DayCare this afternoon red raw & I mean RED RAW to the point he has now been screaming on & off since he came home. Couldn't sit in the bath & cried when he did a poo. What can I do to help???
I've put on cream though screams when trying to do so...he went down at 7pm & has woken 3 times since absolutely screaming in pain. I've given panadol, what else can I do??
Ohh you poor thing!!
Did he not have it this morning?
If so I wonder if it is more than nappy rash and maybe an allergy?
If you think it is nappy rash try Bepanthen or Curash as they will both soothe the pain!!!
Bepanthen is great for claering anything up quickly, Curash has a zinc base so it dries things up and sometimes can cause more discomfort if it is already dry down in that area!
if you are really concerned go to the doctor in the morning just to get it checked out!! For your peace of mind!!!
I second the antifungal cream suggestion - DD had such a bad butt from a teething poo that she had an open sore/blister, but a couple of doses of an antifungal with zinc sorted it out quicksmart.
Only wash his bum with cooled chamomile tea.........create a barrier by spreading some egg white on the rash, and then covering it with cornflour......let him have as much time as possible without a nappy..........do you have any nappy rash creams?
If he's really screaming in pain still, I would sit him in the bath with bucket loads of chamomile tea, that might soothe it a bit. Otherwise, yeah, panadol, and lots of cuddles. And don't forget to let daycare know all about it
and not wiping him with wipes whilst his bum is so red raw i would use warm water with some pinetarsel and cotton balls and gently wipe if he poos.
Dakenzin (not sure if i spelt that right) has worked best with both my boys, its more expensive but found it works really quickly and its real thick so a great barrier
i hope his bottom calmed down o/n and id be cranky with the day careplace
Yep second the no wipes (BTW we ended up sending wipes to daycare for DD as she came home every daycare day with a rash - turns out she had a reaction to their wipes) we used a cool washer, corn flower with chamomile extract, Bepethern is great and we used the healing hippo bumps and bites cream
DS is usually fine with chemical nappies and chemical wipes, but when there's any sort of rash, chemical things on his bum send them fungal! (Nearly healed - I was unhappy but it's not Nursery's fault because it was DH not changing the nappy when I was at work that did it.) I supply MY nappies and stipulate water only to clean DS (which I do at home anyway) when he needs them.
If this is because the care centre left her in a dirty nappy then I'd be complaining about it.
