She's ready, not sure I am...

well my DD (not yet 2) has decided that she is ready to be TT. I personally would have put it off until at least christmas time (being due in 5 weeks), when it was more convienent for me - but alas, that is not an option. she will refuse to poo in her nappy at all, and at home that is fine as she can get on the potty easily. the problem is I don't know what to do with her when we are out!!! she won't go in the nappy, but most of the toilets down town are adult sized, and she can only go to them if someone is holding her - but in my current condition I find that nearly impossible and painful (and i cann't imagine it getting any easier once the bubs is here). I don't have a drivers liscence so i cann't just 'go home'. so how can I make this easier for both her and me?

What my mum did with me and my twin sister was to take the potty with her in the basket under the pram. She's go into the toilets and even put us in a cubicle and then flush the poo when finished. She said she'd put toilet paper in the bottom of the potty so it didnt get too soiled. She said it wasnt necessarily the most ideal thing to do but maybe something you could think about.

Yeah that was what I was thinking, take a potty out with you or one of those seats that fit into the adult seat so you dont have to hold her.

I can identify with this problem! My son Javiah was a little over 2 when my youngest was born in January. I wasnt planning on TT him until we were settled with baby. Of course, he decided otherwise and would only use the toilet, this was about 2 weeks prior to the birth. I was worried about trying to help him on the toilet when I was trying to breast feed and what not, as well as dealing with being 38 weeks pregnant and not quite as able as usual.
Anyway, I found it was not as bad as I imagined. There was the odd inconvenient occasion, but nothing to stressful. I never thought of taking a potty with you,but I think thats a great idea worth thinking about. Probably easier then the stress of trying to discourage your little one.
hope you find something that works for you.

i think they sell them in kmart or target, you can get an attachment to put on the adult toilets that fold up... but you would still have to put her up onto the toilet. just another suggestion..

    good luck xx

well i bought one of those fold up seats that fit on top of the adult seat to take out with me. it's still a mixed result atm though. she will sit on it, sometimes but not others. oh well, just one of the joys of motherhood i guess.

Maybe she will revert back to wanting to be in nappies once the baby arrives. LOL we don't usually want to go backwards with TT but hey if it makes life a bit easier in those first few weeks I would let her LOL

I totally understand!!!! Sarah has just decided that the time is now, while Emma takes over 1/2 an hour to drink her bottle! she can't even get onto the potty very easily coz of the splash guard. But she has a hissy fit before she wee's in the nappy and will start pulling off a dirty 1 so I just have to do it. Motherhood is a job of u gotta do wot u gotta do. Have a cushie traveller in the nappy bag now n it makes a smaller hole than the children's size toilets so she mite b more comfy with that. will try it tomorrow... Looks like i won't have a 2 year old in nappies. if it only takes days then she mite b done by 18 months, this friday. i doubt it.
