Big hugs for you and your DD. This is not a cry over nappies, it's about a poor little bottom that must be hurting and I think everyone can understand how upset you must be feeling when you're going to incredible lengths to do the best you can to solve the problem. I haven't got any advice on the bad batch of nappies but I hope you are able to sort something out. How old is your DD? I think I'd be asking for a referral to take DD to a paediatrician or skin specialist about her poor little bottom. I feel so sad for you both.
Definately get your DD's bottom checked for fungal infection. I sounds very similar to what my niece has. If you have heaps of nappies and don't know what to do with them then put them on EBay.

Thank you all for being so understanding.
We actually have seen 2 specialists for her eczema and even went to the Children's Hospital but all they did was to give her creams with steroids which I didnt continue with.
I did some research and give her Mega oil from Graham's Alternative medicine range but that doesnt seem to help.
I have also been to a chinese herbalist in Melbourne and his cream works really really well but I am still wary as to what is in there.
I havent tried a naturopath.
I don't want to put the nappies back on ebay because I dont want any mums experiencing the same thing as me.
If anyone wants to see how crap these batch of nappies are feel free to PM me and Ill send you some samples! They are even useless for mopping up the floor ehehhe

I got some raw silk liners online from nurture nappies. I haven't used them yet as I got them JIC and haven't needed them so I don't know if they work or not.
What do you use to clean DD's bot? If it is eczema that might be making a difference. I get eczema on my hands and heaps of cleansers (washing liquid, soaps etc) make them pretty bad. Maybe you can hunt down an alternative? Perhaps talk to a pharmacist?

Can't really relate to eczema on the bum but ds has pretty bad facial atopic eczema. The most recent doctor told us steroid cream r bad for young bubs so he prescribed us ELIDEL. Its non-steroid. Prior to this doctor, ds was put onto antibiotics (both oral n cream) to treat the infection. I'm not sure how it'd work on the bum, but also try wet dressing? also as pp had mentioned, give lots of nappyfree time if u can. I'm not sure whether its feasible for u n ur Bub, but maybe ec is a good alternative so u don't need nappies?
As for the huggies, I've never had a leak but I've notice that nappies from older batches would feel like cardboard. Sounds silly but maybe nappies have due dates too cos of the chemical?

Just a quick update. I rang Huggies to see what the progression was of my complaint was. I must admit they are extra nice people. She told me that they did find problems with the boxes I have. They were 10g LIGHTER hence why it was leaking and causing an issue.
I tried making DD go nappyless but all she did was scratch scratch scratch until her bottom bled and trust me, gloves on her hands will just come off her in a instance!
It's getting better now though, I've been changing her nappies like every 10 mins or whenever I feel she did a pee.
I use disposible wipes and hand towels but I usually rinse the disposible wipes with water first as even the non fragrant ones can react.
that is great news from huggies...are they willing to help you in anyway????
Ive jsut ordered some eczema cream from moo goo hon and OMG it is fantastic!!!!!! we still have a little patch but Mateauz whole butt was covered, I even put it on my ezcema on my hands only once and its almost cleared up.
google moo goo. Its all organic to and smells good enough to eat

Ive been using Moo goo on her, it helps a bit not overly much (maybe because when I change her she itches so much the cream probably comes off)
Ive also got some of their new psorasis and eczema cream as well! (yet to try on her bum but have tried it on her hands, didnt see a difference though)

Her skin has improved so sooo much since she was born so im hoping it would go away too.
I was looking back at her photos and couldnt believe how bad it was before. Her scalp was oozing with sappy liquid and she was sooo blotchy on her face.
The only thing that helped us was an alternate chinese medicine man in Melbourne (we're from syd) but I am trying to use his creams sparingly.
I went to the children's hospital and they told me to stop using his creams (as they do not know what is in there) and they prescribed me with steroid based creams. I had every cream under the sun (most of which were unopened)
Problem with these creams is it doesnt stop the itchiness, whereas the chinese creams did.
Anyway, so much conflicting information.
In the end, I stopped going to the children's hospital (as they refused to do an allergy test on her) and used the chinese cream only when it gets really bad.
Ahhh ... sorry I just ranted on again about DD's eczema LOL (tend to do this alot)!
Hon, if the chinese creams were working then use them. Medical professionals are usually overly sceptical of eastern/alternative medicine when it can really help so don't worry about the fact "they" don't know what's in it. Ask your chinese herbalist?
Eg - I was booked in with an orthopedic surgeon at 12-14 for curvature of my spine they wnated to put a rod in my back and a brace - also my knee had a problem that was wearing away all the cartiledge - I was told I would need knee replacement by the time I was 20.
One trip to the chiropractor who found I had a twist in my pelvis - over a period of a year with chiro my spine straighten and my knees got better - the orthopod refused to accept it was from the chiro?????? Go with your gut and use the cream that works
babe...you gotta go with what you know works. our Pead turned his nose up at me when I said I had been giving Mateauz honey for his blood....he said no infant under 12 months should have honey blah blah blah.....funny how Mateauz has no signs on brian damage on his u/s isnt it compared to the one before I started honey. (I also breast feed him until 7 months which he was happy wiith) and the clots are gone..
I have had a few experiences with my youngest and skin problems. The oozing rash on the face as a wee bub and the bleeding bum thing are both very common here. The one thing which changed it all for us was a dairy free diet. Have you tried taking her off all forms of cows milk protein. Because what you are describing sounds like classic cows milk protein intolerance - not allergy, but intolerance. This one they can grow out of unlike an allergy.....my bub is almost 2 now and can tolerate some cheese now and then without leaving her bum bleeding.
When I say totally take it out, I mean all additives containing skim milk powder, whey protein, or other dairy derivatives. There are lots and lots added to everything, but there's always a dairy free alternative for all products (even chocolate).
I would bet that after a month to 6 weeks off dairy you would notice a complete turnaround, but I noticed the change happen after 3-4 days to a week for sure.

Unfortunately the chinese herbalist does want to reveal what his "secret formula is". He's a bit ****y as well.
I am just wondering, because her bum is getting better, do you think it is because I switched from formula to A2 cows milk? (Although, I did read some studies that it is not proven that A2 is more beneficial).
Can you give me some tips on how you change your bub River? It totally stresses me out when I change DD because she's always always scratching and once i put the nappy on she is CRYING SO MUCH i have to quickly pick her up and distract her.
I try to give her toys to play with before hand but once the nappy goes off, no toy is good enough, she would scratch and scratch!
Even if A2 milk isn't much different from normal dairy milk (I have no idea if it is or not except that I know a diabetic who drinks it instead of reg milk), it'll still be much better than infant formula. Sorry I can't be of more help.
