    Sore bottom

My DD has been toilet training for about a month now and is going fine, but she will NOT stop touching her bottom. She says it hurts sometimes (not while weeing) and Im thinking it's from touching so often. She occassionally has some spots there and Im wondering if I shoudl take her to the Doc's incase of UTI> I did think temp would be associated with UTI and she definitely doesn't complain whilst on the toilet. Im just confused as to what it is as we never had probs with sore bottoms or the like, with nappies.
Just wondered if anyone has had similar experiences? To start I thought it was a different feeling having no nappy, thus holding her private parts, but it is ALL the time and it's been a month. Thanks xoxoxo

We have had this problem with DD1. Took her to the doctor, as it had been going on and off for months. He just said it was non-specific vag -something. We thought she may have had thrush or something like that, as sometimes her bum would be quite red.

Think we have worked it out. DD1 seems to think she has to poo everytime, so almost every toilet trip she needs a bum wipe, rather than a more gentle wee wipe. I think the amount of wiping is just irritating her little bum. Also she does fiddle a lot, especially when tired. Finally, I think they are so used to padding being in that area, that it takes awhile for the bottom to get used to sitting, play on toys etc without it.

DD has been TT for a few months now and she complains of the same and wants cream on her 'gina. She says it feels better after I put the cream on so I don't think it is really that sore. I have notice that she does touch it more now with undies and also wiping with toilet paper - so both of those things might iritate her a bit.

I haven't been that worried as she only complains once a day, it doesn't stop her from going to the potty and it isn't upsetting her sleep.

I forgot that, often DD1 would also ask for cream. I think it does help sooth especially when there has been a lot of wiping.

Thanks guys, sounds familiar. Nai, it hadnt upset Coco's sleep either, and she usually complains once in the afternoon/night, so maybe it is the same. Cream also seems to soothe. It is her 'gina' too that she wants cream on, but she does have a poo issue, will NOT poo on toilet or potty so waits for nappy at bedtime. But I think it's the front that's causing the prob. Could also be the no nappy protection,, and just feeling different. Will keep an eye on things and decide if we'll go to Doc's. xoxo

Have you tried switching to softer toilet paper? Just a thought.

DD complained of this too and it was because she was wiping herself too rough with the TP. So we bought softer TP and just had to teach her not to rub so hard.

We generally dab the toilet paper, IF we use it. Sometimes we don't purely because I don't want it irritating her. Will try the old one I used to use anyway, switched for some reason and don't like new one! xo
