Super please help me!! Problems with cloth!!

I have towelling nappies that I fold then put pilchers over and I HATE HATE HATE them!! They are HORRIBLE. When I use them, I have to change DD every 15 minutes, the pilchers get satched after a single use, they're bulky and don't fit under any clothes, just, ARRGH!! I didn't choose what nappies to get, my mum bought them for me . . . and just recently told me that she tried cloth nappies with me (both this kind and the ones where you insert the thing into the thing) and gave up and started using disposables because she was having the exact same problem I am.

I really hate disposables and as DD gets older, they're less and less economical. I really want her to be in cloth but this is madness!

What should I do?



By the way, DD is 14 months old and 12kgs. Is it even worth buying them now that she's this weight? I'm looking at the bumGenius and they only go up to 13.5kgs. I'm planning on having more kids so they'll (hopefully) get used again with another bub but that's not certain, so i'd like to get a reasonable amount of wear out of them! It says here that the one-size goes up to 15kgs, so that would a better option hey?

And btw, I don't want to use wool. I'm not fussy or anything >.<

Are baby beehinds any good? They sound good from what the site I'm on says.

Yep chickie, they're great, but my 15kg toddler can still fit into her BumG.
Try the IttiBitti site - they seem to be the best for this age IMO. Trim, dry quick, easy to manage. Last long.

baby beehinds are fab ... sooo absorbent and can be used overnight too .. they are soft and comfy for bub .. and are great as they accomodate to flucuating weight .. DS has been in BBH since 3 months and is now 2 and 14.2 kgs and can still fit a BBH medium !!

BG are good and have really blown me away with how well they preform !! i have the AIO in large and ds fits them well . i also have them for DD in small and looks as though they will fit her for ages !!

itti bitti are great too but exe !!.. if im shopping i always take the ittis or BG's ..

but over all you cant beat a superb fitted like the bamboo bbh and cover ... no leaks ..

Have you thought about adding a booster to your current nappy and getting better covers? It might help with your current problem while you investigate brand name nappies.

I use terry flats at home, MCN when I'm out & sposies at childcare. As DD gets older you might find that she goes longer between wees so the terry nappies are not quite as annoying. That's my experience from a sample size of one. Having said that, if I'd started MCN earlier, I would have bought more and he'd be in them all the time (maybe even at CC). That's my plan for when we have a second baby.

My Bum G's look like they'll fit DS (who is 26 mths & about 13kg atm) for at least another 6mths. Hopefully he'll be TT by then

If you dont want to spend a lot of money, you can always boost your terries. Try some bamboo boosters. And get yourself some PUL covers rather than the pilchers.

Greenkids will last with bigger bubs and they're a very absorbent, one size fits most bamboo pocket nappy. The minky ones are divine.
My DD is 17 months and I have started her on cloth over the last 2 months. I have some terries which I only use when everything else is in the wash. I have mostly Greenkids minky, but also some Peapods cause they're still bamboo, but cheap. I am trying some swaddlebees sized nappies and at night I'm using Baby Beehinds Bamboo with PUL cover. I haven't tried my wool cover yet. But the BBB can take a fair amount of wee.

The Peapods medium is rated 8-16kg, the large is 15-22kg (depending on when your DD is toilet trained, you might never need the large or maybe only a few for night time)
Swaddlebees large is 10-17kg

Another thing to consider is that even if you don't end up having another baby, you might be able to re-sell your nappies. Ebay doesn't allow it, but "buy for baby" does.

i didnt start dd in cloth until she was 13 months
our staples in nappies are bab6y beehinds. i love them for absorbancy!!! *wink wink lea!*

i was the same i had some flannelette flats for ds - was changing ater 20 mins!! and it drove me nuts. - now i use bamboo trifols on him in a pul cover and sooo muc h better - can last up to 3 hrs!!!

i am just waiting for him to be big enough for the baby beehinds!

but i have about 40 mcns (different brands as dh likes the aio ones so he doesnt need to cover them and 15 bamboo flats etc for ds + covers. i prob spent close to $1k. but even with starting dd late in them i worked out i have saved about 4k over the next 2-3 years having 2 in nappies!
