Me again...with PROGRESS!

After our shocking few days of accidents, I explained to DD "when you feel wees and poos in your tummy you have to run to the toilet". I then started saying "mummy can feel a wee in her tummy, quick I have to go to the toilet" and ran to the toilet saying, quick, quick, quick. That seemed to be a vital piece of info for DD, because she then started saying "quick, quick" when she needed to go, and from there I could prompt her to run to the toilet. She finds it fun too, because we laugh and run through the house etc.

It has meant though we havent had an accident in days. She is also waking dry overnight and from her naps, so I have stopped using nappies in the day at all (I sneak one on her overnight, but 50% of the time she wakes up and takes it off and then uses the potty in the morning).

Its such an ebb and flow process...so anyone struggling. HANG IN THERE!

That is an awesome, awesome idea! I am going to try this tomorrow.

DD1 Can pee on cue, I take her to the potty or toilet tell her to let her wee wee go and she will pee. But she NEVER tells me when she needs to go, complains often when I say let's do a wee wee on the potty though she's fine when we actually get there and jumps up and rejoices yay when she's done one and wants to wipe herself etc, but apparently it is a terrible interruption to her day, and if I leave it too long between taking her to the toilet she will come up wet and say, "ooo, mummy wee wee (lead me to the puddle), Oh Ellyse, Elly made a mess" Almost proudly!! I'm gonna take a swipe at DH for not being as dilligent as he should have been when I'm at work or feeding Lilah, but still, shouldn't she have told me she needs to go by now, every day I tell her, tell Mummy before you need to do wee wee, when you feel it in your babootzy not after, ok? Nothin. And she narrates every other feeling or incident in her life all day long except that. I had consoled myself that she's only 2 and 3 montsh and my nephews weren't TT till they were over 3, but am now worried as all you ladies kids are younger then her.

Oh no sas, I am still there and have been for like three months. And I hate to tell you this but it's been getting worse the last few weeks we had ONE weekend where she told me she wanted to go, I thought I was finally getting somewhere, but since then, no it's back to "no, no banks" and violent resistance if I try to take her anyway
Saving grace is that at home where she can do it independently she is fine. For some reason at daycare she is also fine and co-operates ok with toilet trips, but this just makes me feel worse as she will do it for them but not for me.

Weellllllllllll, DD has shown massive interest in potty training since my last post - all I did was make up a 'potty progress chart' and after 10 star rewards (just a sticker that she puts onto the chart) she gets a 'fairy surprise'....are rewards ok or am I bad ?

But once that reward chart got her 'in to' training, she is now randomly running up saying 'toilet, toilet' and will run to the potty, pants off and she'll sit on it - she only does a little wee - but its better than nothing..............right?

We still have her in training pants - and she is still weeing and pooing in them...I'm not quite 'active' enough to put her in material underwear (almost 37 wks pg), but after I have this bundle I may look to doing that to get her at least daytime trained...thoughts? Anyone???

I like Arcadia's idea of the 'when I feel wee in my belly' - might try that tact tomorrow!

I'm BACK
DD1 has been on and off with the whole TTing since DP has been home, with Dr's appts and the like we've not made a big deal out of it and she's still only young.

Today she wanted knickers, so we let her, she has been on and off the toilet (no potty seat) on her own all day.
On a couple of occassions she has said she did wee's but neither of us were able to verify.
Tonight when we had dinner i put the potty in the kitchen and reminded her half way through if she needed it it was there.

5min later she got down and said she needed to do wees and got on the potty, then said "hey mum, i did a poo"
So we wiped her, flushed and back to teat, a couple of minutes later "i need to do wees now" so she got down and sure enough WEES
After that she decided running naked was fun and ended up doing another 3 wees on the potty before bed.

I am so happy and pleased and proud of her, were making a potty chart and will buy her some stickers, stars for wees and a special sticker for poos, and once she's gotten to 10 stickers she can get a special present.
We've also told her she can't go to 3yr old kinder until she can do wees on the potty, she REALLY wants to go to kinder so were kind of bribing her .

We are going slowly but surely here... its getting colder so DS isnt allowed to be naked as much as he would like to, and is now saying "i dont want a nappy" when he has to put pants on, and he is actually remembering to take them off when he needs to wee!! (thats where we were stuck before, he was fine naked, but once pants went on it was all over!!)

And some more progress too from weeing outside to the EERRRGGGHHHH SHOWER!!!!! I let him do it once coz i was changing DD and couldnt get to the door for him, and now he thinks thats his inside loo!!! But i did have a good idea.. i have actually put his potty in there, and now its a game for him to aim in the potty in the shower, so if he misses there isnt alot of pressure, we just turn the shower on and give it a clean and any wee that makes it in the potty we ceriomoniously tip in the toilet!! So he is starting to know how to point his willy and get his wee where it needs to go instead just letting loose lol!! So i think we are on a bit of a winner!! He even went into town yesterday in just pants and no accidents, no weeing either at all, but no accidents!!

Poo on the other hand he still refuses to go on the toilet.. asks for a nappy for poo, but hey one nappy a day i can handle!! One step at a time right!!!

she just took her nappy off and did poos on the potty
This morning we have had 1 more wee and now a poo.
Daddy is going to look for some pretty stickers and we have made a 'potty chart' for her this morning so will see how that goes.

~strarbright~ the shower idea is awesome, lets him work on his aim and pee in a place he's comfortable
my niece used to refuse to poo on the toilet, she would hold on until she had a nappy, it used to annoy my SIL but eventually she got used to the idea.
However she refuses to poo at other peoples houses unless she REALLY needs to and will basically hold on all day if she's at school.

How is everyone going?

DD1 is going well, she's had a few accidents every now and then but is basically running around in knickers all day when were home and wearing pull-ups or nappies when were out.
Yesterday we went for our walk and stopped at the shops and she asked to go to the toilet and did wee's on a public toilet
This morning she has knickers and pants on and she came into the kitchen, pushed them both down and did a poo on the potty

I am so so proud of her, she likes using her potty chart and has already gained her second 'prize' and i've found if she hasn't done a wee she actually says NO i didn't and isn't lying trying to put stickers on.
I've extended the prize too so the first couple it's 10 wees or poos on the potty then it extends to 12 then it's something like 14.

So how is everyone else?
She wants to wear knickers to bed but we've told her she's not ready yet and we have to buy her a special mattress protector.

Okay...I think we're well and truly ready.

Timing couldn't be worse. It's cold. She's sick. Not ideal to be weeing down her legs!

She asks constantly to go on the toilet. I bought her a toilet training book and she loves it. She'll go and sit on the potty and "read" it. We have the rewards chart with the stickers hung up in the toilet. She doesn't seem to fuss whether she sits on the potty or the toilet.

She keeps saying "No more nappies" but thinks that undies go on her arm I've just taken her nappy off and she's in undies at the moment. Problem is, she gets really really upset if she has an accident. Even in the book, there's a photo of the little girls with a puddle of wee underneath them, and she looks at it and says "Oh no, oh dear". We keep reinforcing that its okay, it doesn't matter, but she's still upset. She also gets really upset if she has a dirty nappy and I have to change it. Sometimes she cries, other times she covers her eyes.

So where do we go from here? She is yet to wee/poo on the toilet or potty. She doesn't show any obvious signs of wanting to go, but tells me to change her nappy afterwards. Will her having accidents encourage her to go? And do we still use nappies at night? She goes for long periods of time during the day before we get a wet nappy. All the signs are great, I'm just totally clueless. How do I teach her to connect the dots?

I think she is doing quite well PRMG, the first thing for me was making sure Dd was happy sitting on the potty (some kids wont even look at it or the toilet).
I found that DD realising she had had an accident in her knickers was one of the first steps to her 'going', also if you give her a big drink, let it settle then let her sit on the potty i find sometimes they just 'accidentally' go IYKWIM.
You could try pull-ups, they look like knickers but atleast if she has an accident she wont be too scared.

Thanks hun. We've had one accident so far, lots of tears but as soon as we got rid of the offending pants, she was okay again

I've got pull-ups but she doesn't do anything different to nappies, but that was a while ago too. I'll give them another shot

Yeah she's doing really well, has been in nappies while we've been out but we have a couple of days at home for the next week or so so i am planning on knickers and heaters on

After months of refusing to even go near it, Sam's back to sitting on the potty before his bath again. He always does a wee in the potty when he sits on it, but shows no inclination to ask to go. We're going to continue this way until at least Summer unless he starts showing more of an interest.

Hi, well I'm with ZF we turned the corner here too. It literally did just suddenly click with her to start saying she needed to go (just like everyone said it would I just didn't believe them). She does still prefer to do poo on the potty, and still will verbally resist going to the toilet even when she really obviously needs to if she's too into something, but she goes just fine once she's on the toilet. Some nights she's mostly dry too, but I'm more than happy for her to still wear a nappy at night instead of getting up to wee if that's what it comes down to, she's only just started sleeping through, I ain't tempting fate

Thought I would update too.

Miss m (3yrs 3mths) was shocking and kept wetting herself for 4 days then it just clicked and she is day and also NIGHT trained as well completely. It all just happened so fast!

We haven't had any toilet success yet. She keeps asking to go, but we've had lots of accidents. Never mind, we're going to get it sooner or later!

DD1 just had her first night in knickers with no accidents at all!
She came into our room so at about 5:30ish took her to our toilet and made her sit, she did a wee and went back into our bed!

I wonder if she can keep it up, how does anyone handle going out?
If I put her in pull-ups she just thinks it's a nappy but I dint want her peeing in her carseat or in the pram etc?
Maybe I can do pull-ups but offer the toilet when we get to places.

I think I will join in here - Miss J wants to wear undies but has absolutely no concept of using the potty! She has the undies on, will pull them down to sit on the potty and then does nothing in it. 5 minutes later she will have weed everywhere in her undies She has great bladder control too so she can hang on to a LOT! Yesterday she weed all over the carpet and her Cadel Evans mask from the parade - not happy

Help!!!!!!!!!!!!

Doing the 3 day method absolutely by the book. We're on day 3. Last time she weed was 6.30 last night. She hasn't pooed since Saturday.

I've hit the wall and she knows it. She's sitting on the potty now watching her favorite movie because she Just. Needs. To. Wee. So any tips on getting that to happen will be hugely appreciated.

Tried treats, presents, lots of drinks and then salty crackers so she'd drink more. Every time I go to the loo she cheers, claps her hands and tells me I'm a good girl.

I just need her to wee.
