WOO HOO!
Man i thought DD was toilet trained, until we went to spotlight the other day and she WEED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE AISLE! I had to stand there and tell ppl she had a little accident!!
Dear me, she is usually good and tells me when she needs to go!
So when you think they are fully toilet train, they'll pull one on ya! LOL

My dd is almost 3 and is a stubborn one. She uses toilet at day care and is fine there. But at home nope not interested and just pee's everywhere. It's so frustrating.
My middle dd trained herself so I didn't have to worry about it. And eldest dd was over 4yrs ago so I'm out of touch.
Damn it I was hoping it was like riding a bicycle - :wall: so not looking forward to doing this again in 3 years!:

DS2 just turned 2 years old last week and i am in denial that he wants to be toilet trained
i bought him a potty and as soon as he clothes are off he sits on it and does a wee
he also tries to go on the toilet and did a poo on the loo last night
i was thinking that he is a little young but he has started to tell me when he is doing wees or poos so i think its time for the pre training stuff to start
last time i trained a child was my twins 6 years ago so its gonna take me a bit to get back into it
hmm life in nappies is soo much easier but here goes nothing!!!
Yeah our latest trick is 'No mummy I'll play for a little longer and then we'll go toilet' which basically means she wets herself at the toilet door after a mad dash. And she's 'fully trained' for night and day. I say that, but it's only been two weeks and we've not done large/long trips from home.:
I have this fear of an accident in public because I have no idea how to handle it!

hj1981 - Welcome! I wish I knew the whole difference between wee/poo. Seriously it was so boggling.
I'm pleased to report that we have a minor victory!
After being thoroughly terrified of the potty, we just left it in the bathroom and ignored it for a few weeks. The other day I went to the loo and left the door open (as I usually do when it's just me and Sam) and Sam came along and plunked himself down on the potty. He was still fully clothed and he'd been playing with it (it's a two-piece thing) and taken the potty part out of the seat, but - HE SAT ON THE POTTY!
So last night when I was running his bath, I put him on the potty again. He kept popping up to look in the potty but sat there quite happily. Again, he still had his nappy on. I suspect he realised he was peeing and was trying to see it in the potty. Perhaps we'll try while running the bath with no nappy and see how we go.
It may be small, but it's progress!

LOL yeah sorry no bike here for me, but then again each kid is different, so maybe its like learning to ride a two wheeler then being told to jump on a uni cycle?
either way its still not going well, she wont pee on the potty here but yest at day care she only had one accident all day. all i know is im not going back on my word and she is staying in knickers , well at least til the washing pile grows to high and tumbles trapping me underneath.. LOL
I need a pep talk. (on my phone so excuse spelling)
Dd has been in undies for a few weeks now, even waking dry overnight, but we still have nappies on her jic.
Anyway the last few days have been a big regression. She has done two poos in her pants today alone and several sees over the last three days (one poo and wee in public!)
I tend to pre-empt her toileting by taking her to the toilet wherever we go and before we leave the house etc, but now I realize she isn't actually recognizing the need to go to the toilet, and so will only tell me once she's already started.
Today I lost it. Twice. After a poo AND separate wee accident at home, we had another poo accident out. Despite her just having used the loo. *sigh* I actually cried I felt so bad...I know you're not meant to get cross but three changes of clothes (and shoes) before midday is too much. I just want to stop, but I am worried all my hard work will be undone.
I feel she is ready...but the sudden regression makes me despondent. She is sick...could it be that?
I need some reassurance!!?!

I actually posted this in another thread, but I thought I would put it here too in case someone is reading for info.
After our shocking few days of accidents, I explained to DD "when you feel wees and poos in your tummy you have to run to the toilet". I then started saying "mummy can feel a wee in her tummy, quick I have to go to the toilet" and ran to the toilet saying, quick, quick, quick. That seemed to be a vital piece of info for DD, because she then started saying "quick, quick" when she needed to go, and from there I could prompt her to run to the toilet. She finds it fun too, because we laugh and run through the house etc.
It has meant though we havent had an accident in days. She is also waking dry overnight and from her naps, so I have stopped using nappies in the day at all (I sneak one on her overnight, but 50% of the time she wakes up and takes it off and then uses the potty in the morning).
Its such an ebb and flow process...so anyone struggling. HANG IN THERE!
Phew...now to work out how I manage all this toileting with a newborn!

I am really not sure what to do with DD. She is the one that decided in about Oct last year that she wanted to use the toilet so it wasn't me pushing her or anything and she was going great. She knows when she needs to go for wees and poos and tells me 'need toilet' and runs down there to get her little seat ready. But we have accidents every day still. She gets it but just doesn't want to go sometimes. And that makes it REALLY frustrating because it's like she's doing it on purpose.
So I'm not sure what to do. I keep getting fed up with her and putting a nappy on because I'm sick of cleaning wee up off the floor. But that probably doesn't help things. Not sure if I should keep letting her run around with no nappy at home or just give up for now. But she seemed so ready and sometimes loves going to the toilet and is all proud of herself. Arhhhh!!
Oh I hear you sj!! It can be really depressing when you have accidents a lot. I would keep her in undies and keep encouraging her, unless you're having a bad day and feel you couldn't cope with an accident. We also have some structure which helps...wee before we leave the house, wee when we're at a cafe, wee before nap etc. It means she is great at controlling her bladder and can wee on cue, AND you can relax that you're less likely to have accidents.
It's a real forward and back thing though!!! Keep posting everyone!!!

Been lurking a bit cause I knew I'd have to think about this in the future (I figure a bit of extra reading on stuff before they tend to happen helps = not so stressed me). I didn't think I'd be needing to join you guys in the chatter this soon.... but I think DS might be starting to TT :( apparently when DH (who looks after DS 2 days a week) went to try and change DS's night nappy for a day one, DS refused to have a nappy on until he started weeing. DH explained to DS that that was why he had to wear a nappy (DS was being changed in his room where it's carpeted). Apparently once DH had said this DS went a grabbed nappy to put on. The potty was in the lounge room but DH didn't realise so he didn't have it for the morning wee. Tonight the potty is in DS's room ready for the morning if needed. DS's starting to get some of the toileting things together (not necessarily poop & wee) but the wiping of the bum and the wash hands afterwards is starting. He's also grabbing his nappy while weeing (or afterwards if we ask if he needs a nappy change). So I think we're on the TT path. I wasn't intending to start until next summer - oh well.

I am at the same stage, Dd2 now comes up and ask for the toilet and goes and sits on it and does her business. I thought it was crazy early (19m), but I'm just goin with it, letting her lead the way.

Arcadia sorry I wasn't around when you needed a pep talk :hug: I haven't been around much. I know how you feel I definitely needed a pep talk over the weekend. I am just getting nowhere :wall: after all these months DD is still in pullups when we go out (although at home or DC she is fine) because she just will.not.tell.me.when.she.needs.to.go. If I ask if she needs to go she says no. And if I try to take her regularly like they do at DC she says no, fights, kicks, carries on, totally refuses to co-operate and is so busy trying to wriggle down that nothing happens :wall: it's degenerated into a power struggle. It's really demoralising as a lot of friends who started after me have got it all sorted, in knickers all the time, never seem to have accidents, their kids tell them when they need to go and co-operate nicely. Starting to feel like a total failure :wall: and blame myself because I use pullups rather than just dealing with the accident factor (which TBH I just can't cope with atm). Sorry for the big poor me rant!

Pixie!!!! I so know the feeling, but please dont beat yourself up about it. Its a process which for some kids is longer than others. Massive hugs hun :hug: I've missed you around.
Hi ladies i would like to join if i can,im going crazy!!Im currently sitting on the floor with DD trying to cath up wee in the potty!I have feelings shes ready she seems to show me all the signs but then nothing never ]]does a wee in the pot always down the legs or nappy so im starting to try properly today have had a wee on floor already and shes had a gut load of water so i know she has to go but she wont soooo stubborn yet im sure she knows!She turned 2 feb 5th but shes quite clued on,i dont know im going to try anyway im over hearing people go on and on about how shes getting to old to be in nappies wish people would mind there own business!!!!arggghhhhh
