I've been told by a few people that the best time of the year to TT is in summer, not quite sure why, I assume it has something to do with the warmer weather and they're able to wander around with no clothes/nappy on?
Did you TT in summer?
DS is 2 next month and I'm wondering whether I should start training him now, considering it's summer or wait til next summer, or maybe he'll be more ready some time before next summer... aargh I'm so confused, I'm clueless when it comes to this!
does he communicate that he is doing a wee or poo?
do you think he will understand the process of it?
after having 1 child who did brilliantly then went backwards and still a yr later wasnt trained i now have said #2 will tell us when she wants to. what i have read about infant let toileting is that it usually happens in about 2/3 days as they are at an age where they KNOW the difference between going to the toilet or wearing nappies. DD was 2 in july and she knows when she is doing a wee and poo but hasnt yet got the idea of then moving to the potty/toilet she just stops still.
DD1 toilet trained in winter and she was fine - she was 2.5yrs and just decided she was ready to wear undies. She went from nappies to undies in 1 day and has only ever had a few accidents, mainly when she has been unwell. It was such a painless experience I will do the same with DD2 and just wait until she is ready.
2.5yrs here too...maybe closer to 3. I have 2 fully toilet trained and did it both 2.5- 3 yrs of age respectively. I find when they're older, they understand a bit more, understand the consequences etc etc. I think ive had 1 wet bed out of the 2 girls so far.
I have a just turned 2 yr old...i wont be thinking about it for another 6 mnths or so.
I found didnt really matter what season it was....

for me, I wanted to do it as soon as I could! I too had been told the next summer after their 2nd bday.
I TT'd DD#1just after her bday (as she's a Jan baby) and she did great! No dramas at all. We used the potty trainer method

Summer is a great time, things dry quickly, they can wander around outside, play with water etc, (starts them weeing and they get that feeling oh this is what it feels like without a nappy on). If you want to give it a try you just never know, if they don't want there nappy back on you know you are off to a good start, if they could'nt care less!!! I would say its too early.
I have done it both ways, my oldest DD was around 18 months she did train, but it was'nt easy, my DS was closer to 3.5 years and it was a breeze and my DD (15 months age gap between her and her brother decided, if he was'nt wearing nappies neither would she!!!) So we had 2 toilet trained at one, pesonally I would say the older the better, but you will cop a lot of flack....from grannys etc...they trained there kids very young.
