Haven't used it but you said it's a fabric softener so I would be avoiding it as it can reduce the absorbency of the nappies.
Has anyone tried using borax with MCNs? I was thinking of giving it a go, as it's a good natural stain remover, deodoriser and fabric softener, but I wanted to know if anyone else has tried it first and if anyone's had any experience of nappy rash, or build-up or other problems with it. It's been great so far on my flannelette flats, but I've not tried it on anything else yet. I don't have access to direct sunlight as a stain remover, sadly.
I have mostly pocket nappies and AIOs as drying time is a priority, but bubs is only 6 weeks old, so I'm still using mostly flanny flats and a cover at the moment. My stash is only just getting started, but what I do have is a mix of Berry Plush, Pocket Change, Itti bitti, Bum Genius, and a couple of Baby BeeHinds.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

This is what I found on ozclothnappies:
I'd be checking with the manufactuers first as you wouldn't want to ruin any of your nappies. Some people choose bicarbonate of soda, borax, or vinegar to wash or rinse with, however this is not recommended by some nappy manufacturers: please check first, as sometimes these substances may cause wicking, stink or even destroy your elastic or PUL.
