    minky

Stupid question, but do I need to put a layer of PUL under minky outers?

Just want to buy the right stuff the first time instead of waiting on the mail to start.

    YES

Minky on it's own isn't enough for a water resistant nappy. If I make a nappy with a minky outer then I use a PUL layer.
If you were going to make a cover then you could use either PUL or polar fleece on the inside layer and that would make it water resistant.

I would be hesitant to use a fleece layer between the absorbant inner and the minky outer with an AIO nappy due to the bulkiness of it but it could be done.

And be prepared for lots of stretching. Use STACKS of pins and take your time when you sew it. Melbel's trick of using baking paper between the foot and the fabric works a treat if you're having issues with it slipping.

Thanks from me too Sam! I was coming on to ask that exact question.

Are we talking covers or nappies?

Covers - I use an outter of minkee and an inner of fleece and have found them very effective.
