Have you seen a prefold IRL FJ? Maybe you could order one so you can see how they go together. Maz has described it spot on or there is the traditional prefold that is made from two pieces sewn together and then then folded and sewn like a quilt to make the thicker pad down the middle (well it's not like a quilt but that's the best way I can think of to describe what I'm trying to say)
