I didn't sew anything but I sorted through some stuff. Those who went to Mels would have seen my huge bag of stuff that I brought along because I couldn't be bothered sorting through it...

I had it spread all over the loungeroom floor and Caleb had a wonderful time flinging bits of fleece about.

I have decided that PUL and I dont mesh well.
I thought I might try my hand at making osme breast pads, one layer minkee, 2 layers bamboo fleece and one layer PUL on the outter. After trying 4 with the PUL I cracked it big time and took it off the other 6. 2 layers of fleece plus the minkee should be alright!! bugger it if its not!

mmmm hate to make you rethink it, but that sounds like a rather bulky breastpad??

I wouldn't go for pul on a breastpad- unless you were going out somewhere and wanted a garuntee of no show through... I just changed mine as soon as they got soaked. Have you got any bamboo velour at home Maz? It's absorbant, as well as having the anti bacterial qualities and just as nice against your skin as the minkee. I use the 20% poly one- it's not as delicate and you can hand dye too! (Give me a hoy hoy if you want me to chuck enuff for a couple of pads in the mail for you to try).

ooooooh I went to SL the other day and got 3 metres of fleece. It was only about $3 per metre. Its nice and soft. I got a metre each of pink, purple, and a blue printed one with dolphins on it. I wanted to get more colours, but DH was getting bored so I didnt go digging to find more that I liked. They did have some other nice printed ones though, but I couldnt decide on what other ones I wanted so I just got dolphins.

My DH reckons I should make some nappies for my cousin and a friend of ours, who are both due to have their bubs in Feb. I like making nappies, but both of these people seemed a bit funny about using cloth and made it clear they prefer sposies (OMG cloth nappies?? Theyre SOOOOOOOOO much work! I'm definately a sposies girl. I hate washing things. oh I cant be bothered.. etc) So I dont think I'll make them nappies. I'll just make more for Claire!

hehe good on you Karina! I have some micro fleece here (yellow) and some fleece (dinosaur) that I'm itching to make into pockets - but yesterday I fried the printer (literally). So ARGHHHHH re patterns!

Kaz, just tretch out the one I sent you or any others you have & trace around it. No need to print patterns off. Just PM me if you need any help. The way I see it is its ok to copy a nappy you have for your own use. its not ok to copy to sell it though.

And I made fluffy for my boy yesterday :

    Dont' Bother me

    Firetruck

Thomas has worn them today, I don't think I'll ever be over minkee

I'm definately over putting on snaps though!

oooh Kaz, I was actually looking for a dinosaur one! But then I could see DH standing there looking bored out of his mind. Where did you get your dinosaur fleece? Dinosaurs are awesome! Claire has shirts with dinosaurs on them and theyre so cute.

Yeah I agree with FionaJill re the patterns. I traced a pocket nappy to get the shape and size that I wanted. I would never sell that one though as its an exact copy, and thats not fair. I have since changed it slightly as it never really fit Claire well around her legs. She has skinny little chicken thighs. I still wouldnt sell it though (too similar).I'd make my own pattern from scratch if I wanted to sell, but I dont think my nappies are good enough to sell yet! I'm too much of a perfectionist and can see all the mistakes I have done.

Haha those are some cute Minkee nappies. What is minkee like to sew with?

Your over snapping! LOL I snapped 158 the other day! I had a big bruise on my hand from it & still have like a callus there now. I have since placed a MM fleece padding cover on the handle of my snap press, if only I thought to do that before I started!

Karina - would you believe it was in the offcuts bin at SL for $2? The piece I got is about 3mx90cm with a hole diameter 50cm in the middle of it - I've already made 2 bibs out of it!

i was talking to my dad the other day, he used to have a clothing manufacturing business, was asking what they did with all their old foot presses ... *sighs* in the scrap!

FJ - with that cover you sent me, if I just keep the front & back bits seperate with some elastic in each, should that be OK for a pocket?

as for selling them - I don't think so! 3 generations of millinery is too many, I don't want to make it 4!!! (but if they work out, I'm definately going to give some pressies away).
