PUL Minkee...?

This may seem like a silly question but at Fairy Fabrics they have PUL Minkee, is this waterproof minkee? Therefore feels nice and does not need extra PUL in nappy for waterproofing? Has anyone used this fabric? and what do you think of it?

hey Deanne,

PUL Minkee is the normal minkee fabric that fairy fabrics have had sent to the place in the US to have the PUL film laminated onto it so essentially it is minkee and PUL in one. I did the same idea with the lycra i have...it is just normal lycra i sent it over and they laminated it for me. So yes it is waterproof and no you dont need to have a separate PUL layer as well. Some people find they like it all in one like this and some people fnd they prefer to have it as separate layers..I have heard some comments that is a tad softer to touch the nappy if it is two separate layers but it all comes down to personal preference at the end of the day...there will be no difference in the waterproof factor either way.

Thanks Mel! You answered my question so well

As I am just starting out in making nappies for DD I think I might as well give it a go, no harm in trying. it might make it a bit easier for me to sew in these early days , once I get a bit more experience up I can then try multi layers.
