    tie dying cloth nappies?

    Hi

has anybody tried tie dying their cloth nappies? has it worked? does it wash off quickly?

if it worked, what dye did you use?

    cheers,

    kate

Kate, that depends on what kind of nappies you mean? I have dyed FABRIC, but not nappies as such- I make the nappy after it's all set.
You can buy dye kits for home use, but it depends on what kind of fibre you are dying as to what dye you will need to use.

    Hi

I have some of the white (terry towelling?) fluffy flat nappies, and also some white fitted nappies that are made of similar material.

    Have you dyed this material?

I am going to see if spotlight has some suitable dye.

    Thanks,

    Kate

Cotton terry flats should dye fine. You could even use hot water dye on them if you wanted really bright colours. Let us know how you go.

Personally, I'd be concerned that the fitted nappies wouldn't take the dye evenly - and that the thread used to sew them is poly and wouldn't dye at all.

I've been hand dying some yummy bamboo velour- I'll post pics later if I get a chance, it's pretty easy. These aren't spotlight or supermarket dyes though.
