the moisture doesnt wick as such it evporates, the wool and lanolin turns the wee into salts, along those lines anyway!!
Hi there,
I've got my wool covers (funky BBH & also MIL knitted some groovy ones).
I've lanolised them etc.
Haven't been game to use them yet because baby was in pavlik harness & major stress if her clothes / harness got wet.
If the wool is wicking the moisture out doesn't that mean it will get the clothes & sheets wet?
Can anyone help. I'd kind of like to get into using them.
Thanks

You can sometimes feel a bit of dampness or cool on the clothes but when you put your hand on the cover it will feel dry. It's quite amazing how it works!
One thing to keep in mind is that if you can feel dampness then it's time for a nappy change anyway so look at it like a wee gauge and a helper, not an annoyance![]()
Thanks for the tips! I tried a fleece cover last night. Wool one didn't fit that nappy. Will try wool tonight. Worked really well & the nappy didn't feel so damp for DD (is that the point?)
When does everyone use them? I thought they were for overnight? or do you use them other times?
Thanks!
I read that wool can absorb 30% of its weight in liquid. And lanolin neutralizes ammonia, which is why they don't smell.
I haven't had a chance (YET!) to use the wraps I've made, really looking forward to it though. Am intending to use them over plain old fashioned towelling nappies.
