Have you used a live, natural yogurt to treat thrush? Help :)

I have nooooo idea if this is in then right section so Mods, feel free to move

Can you get yogurts like this from Coles etc? I have never really looked, I know you can get natural yogurt, but will that have the live cultures etc? Any good brands to recommend?

I have thrush atm, it's pretty bad. DF is a carrier and usually has no symptoms. He gets treated if I get it, usually with the Canestan creams etc, which clears it up. I am allergic to all of the topical creams (was a joy finding that one out ) as the just irritate the area more I have taken a Diflucan but the itching/burning is doing my head in! I'm so red and sore, it's terrible. I'm using my trusty old garlic, although I think I need to up the 'dose' a little, and bathing the area ocasionally in a light vinegar/garlic/water solution, but just wanted to give the yogurt a go as I've heard good things, and my body seems to respond much better to natural remedies. TIA

Yep you can grab any natural yoghurt, they all have the live cultures - just make sure it's natural yoghurt and not flavoured. I've used it and the relief is immediate and ongoing - my doc (tmi warning) said to dip a tampon in the yoghurt then insert it for a few minutes to do the insides too.

Good luck and hope it clears up really quickly

yep I googled about thrush as I am also suffering and one of the treatments suggested was plain natural yoghurts. I am going to get some tomorrow it helps. Apparently you should wear a pad if putting on the outside

Thanks ladies Will be picking some up tomorrow. Wont be usuing a tampon as tampon usage is half the reason i have thrush atm, but I will find a way to get it up there and then I'll be on my back with a pad lol

Kel, yep I've used garlic for a while now, it's amazing. I think I need to start putting more nicks in it now and maybe even cut it in two as this is a pretty bad case It's starting to feel better now so it clears up soon!
