I know all oils have different uses but I am wondering how I know which ones to use?
Does anyone know?
I want a calming scent, but then other times something else...is there a chart or anything?
Thanks

to a fresh burn? I wouldn't put oils on it at all, and stick with waterbased stuff. If you needed the scents, I wouldn't apply the oils to the actual burn, but either oil-burner, or put them on a hanky & sniff it for a few days until the burn isn't so fresh.
I like lavender for calming and relaxing and also a blend which I bought from a shop. A lot of shops which sell essential oils have tables telling you which oils do what. Make sure you get essential oils not fragrant though as they are very different.
Citrus oils are uplifting if you need a pick me up![]()

entreat, I think she means oils for burning (vaporising) rather than to apply to a burn
If you are interested in the properties of essential oils there are many books available that will list the properties of individual oils as well as what oils suit a particular purpose.
As a general guide though, some of the more common calming oils are:
lavender, chamomile, rose, rose geranium, cedarwood, bergamot, clary sage, frankincense, jasmine, mandarin, marjoram, neroli, sandalwood & ylang ylang.
Just as a note to anyone reading - of these oils, the following are contraindicated during pregnancy: cedarwood, marjoram, and the following should not be used in pregnancy but can be useful during labour: clary sage, jasmine.
by bad.
