Should I take Vitex for 11 day LP?

I am hoping someone can help me. My cycle's use to be 28-30 days. I wasn't doing temps then, but assume my LP was about 14-16 days. I had a late loss in Oct 08 and have been temping my cycles since. The length has dropped down to about 25-26 days, with only 11 day LP for about 5 cycles, my last cycle was 14 days, so maybe it is returning to normal? I am concerned that I have a 'luteual phase defect' as my cycles use to be longer. I conceived my angel in 3-months and have now been ttc for 6-mths with no success. I started taking Vitex & B6 a week ago and am now concerned that maybe it wasn't a wise thing to do. I would usually be O'ing soon, but my CM says otherwise.

I have never seen a naturopath before, so will try and find one, but hoping someone may have advice in the mean time. Should I stop taking Vitex? Thank you.

I say ditch it. Unless your luteal phase is under 10 days then it's not considered an issue therefore does not need to be fixed. Vitex is also linked with early miscarriage - search engine it & you'll find loads of ladies who've had early losses whilst on it.... I had two... don't know if that's what caused mine of course but the very next pregnancy was a sticky one just 2 months after ditching Vitex. I was on it for mood swings, not for anything to do with LP.

Forgot to say I had a shortish LP - between 11-13 days but still managed to conceive 3 times within a 12 month period.

    Vitex or not

    Dear Berry1
Hi I am one of the naturopaths at the Belly Belly centre here in Melbourne.
I would definitely recommend going to a naturopath as everyone is different and it would be a good idea to do a hormone analysis which we can do around day 21- 23. This gives us a really accurate picture of the balance between oestrogen and progesterone and what treatment is most suited. Francesca Naish is in Sydney and is one of the most experienced fertility practitioners in the business. She runs the Jocelyn Centre up there so I suggest that would be the best place to go if possible. They have great success rates. Otherwise anyone in Melbourne can come to the Belly Belly Centre in Canterbury and we can help you out.
    Good luck

Thank you Satya & Joceyln for your replies. I have decided to stop taking the Vitex and will make an appointment with the Jocelyn Centre. Many thanks.

I took B6 for short LP, I conceived first month using it. I was also taking clomid that month. I would stick with the B6 though.

Thanks AJC. I am still taking the B6 and will continue to this cycle. I hope I have as good as luck as you did

    Hi,
I thought that you took vitex only for the first part of your cycle - up until ovulation, and then did not take it again? That's how I was advised to take it, and that way too you won't end up taking it while pg if TTC and in your 2WW.
