Hi Simone,
Willow was due "around" the 9 of May. So the Doctors say, but I really don't know as the hospital was still trying to book me into have an US when I went into labour with her. but with the way I worked out my dates I thought I was only 26 weeks. The only thing I'm really happy about is that Willow is happy and healthy now.
Raven
My bdays the 11th may :D
Premmies are always the strongest kids, they have to be. And most of them always sort themselves out :) The only prob with anneliese now is she's small (just 5kgs) she's grown out of her sleep apnoea thank goodness
Fiona- glad to hear the program went well, very interesting stats there, so does that mean the PE is hereditry?
Wow Raven must be so cute watching willow peice all the motions together, wont be long at all!
I am happy to report as of today Nixon realised he likes to roll! He first rolled at 5.5m (4m corrected) but never did it again. Now at almost 8m (6.5m corrected) he has taken the next step! he seemed to love the fact he can get to more stuff now and stayed on his tummy for much longer then he ever has before.
Glad tyo hear Nix is having fun rolling, Pat just about threw himself out the caravan window tonight!
He rolled over onto his tummy, grabbed the window sill and was pulling himself up to the window! Thank god we were there watching, I would never have believed it if I hadn't seen it.
Pat is 200 days old... wow what an athlete you have
Glad to hear all the bubs have made outstanding progress.
Sam & Joel are babbling and laughing and just getting to know each other. It is so cute to see them smile at each other.Sam is rolling sometimes and Joel not yet because of the harness for his hips.
Sam is about 7kg & 64cms at 4 months corrected and Joel 6.4kg - can't do his length either.
Well... Alexa has mastered the art of rolling & the little monkey is trying to get up on all fours.... wont be long till she is everywhere!!!!! Plus she can stand up on her own against things, but luckily she cant get up there on her own LOL!!!!!
Wow Trish, they are great sizes!! It sounds so cute that they are "getting to know each other," i remember watching my best friends babies do that (b/g twins) they are 2 now, and watching the bond between them is just beautiful... i get so clucky again LOL
mitch - WOW that Alexa is moving around on her own, Declan was a fulltermer, and was sitting at 9m, crawling at 1y and walking at 16m, so Alexa's is going great guns!!
Wow great to hear everyones bubs are doing so well. Willow is great, she is still not crawling but I'm sure it will be anyday now. The only problem I'm having with her is she STILL won't eat her vegies!!! I have tried everything, last night I even put a little bit of gravy her potatos and she still WILL NOT eat them. I never had this problem with the other 2. Any help would be great.

Girls,
the Austprem ladies are trying to think of fundraising ideas for Austprem, so think about it and I'll bring it up at the next meeting. We are hoping to have a National Austprem day next year.
Just a quick note... I have just updated Alexas webpage if anyone is interested!!!!
Hope those bubbas are all thriving!!!!
Mitch, i love that first pic on your website at 7.5months! Is that the laundry basket she is sitting in? LOL i got a similar one of Nixon helping me get the washing!
They boys sound great Trish! How long does Joel need to wear the harness for?
Yup it is the washing basket.... I took one of her in it a few months before that then this time she was too big for it LOL
Hi all,
It's great to hear all the progress everyone's bubs are making.
RAVEN- How are you preparing the vegies at the moment? Pureed?
JESS- Hmm, fundraising idea's - i'm not very good at that stuff. Who is the fundraising directed at?
Kyla's doing well, however we both just had another bout of BAD gastro. That's three for Kyla and two for me. Hopefully that will be the last of it, it's awful!!
Kyla's now crawling on all fours and sitting herself up on her knees all the time now which is great.
Way to go Kyla!!!! They do grow up so quickly :confetti:
Yeah Carrie I do Puree Willow's Vegies, But not having much luck at all getting her to eat them. I never had this much problems getting Kayla or Liam to eat them.
Raven
Sorry you're not having any luck Raven - If you're sure they're not too thick the only thing i can suggest is try a bit each day and hope that she gets used to them... sorry i'm not much help!
going by her corrected age she is still in the early days of introducing solids so don't worry too much - does she like fingers foods and feeding herself - there are lots of BB info on solids in forums and main page.
My little guy Joel got his hip (pavlik) harness off today after 8 weeks and he was so happy he squealed happily all the way home in the car.The first 4 weeks it didn't come off at all even for baths (onyl sponge bath allowed) then it was 2-3 times a week just for bath.Due to being breech and premature his hips didn't develop properly but so happy they are on the mend.Need another xray/specialist review in March (should be Feb but no clinic then at kids hosp) so hope he does it himself an doesn't need a different brace the Dr said.
We had along wait today though (3hrs) with two xrays - because they didn't do it way Dr wanted the first time  - my poor little guy being over radiated ... had chest xrays/mcu/two hip xrays and more to come. But did you know they cover his boybits with a little oval thingo I think it must protect them ?.
He also has urinary reflux (severe grade 4/5) which means long term antibiotics and a few more tests renal u/s (tomorrow) and a radioactive injection to check his kidney function (for scarring/damage) after he had a UTI.Hopefully no surgery at this stage and pray he grows out of it.
Twin Sam had a mcu (catheter & contrast dye into bladder)today to check he doesn't have it - didn't so we are so relieved -they check siblings to make sure as more common.
My other update is Joel has started to BF after 5 months -about twice a day still getting a routine feeding two of them rather than expessing. After 3 weeks almost in SCN with alternate ng tube/bottle (first 3 days only in NICU) he preferred teats to (.)
Both are growing well - Joel still smaller - have to take him to find his length now after 2 months of not knowing.
The other day we met up again with gorgeous Tiff, adorable Ivy (still had a smile though unwell) and spunky Noah - gee they have come a long way (I first met them IRL when not long home from hospital). They are just the cutest bubbas (next to mine of course).
Tiff -you should be so proud of your littlest blessings - infact all her lovely children do her proud. The little mini mums are the sweetest girls and a bundle of fun.
Wow... I cant believe how incredibly well these bubbas are doing... some huge milestones reached lately!!!!!!
Alexa was weighed yesterday... is now 15lb 8oz (7.02kg) & 66cm long...
She can also say mumumum now..... so cute...
Still having major bedtime issues... in the fact that she never wants to go to bed 7 jsut screams her head off.....
Any suggestions greatly received..... I am starting to go a little mad!!!!!!!
Oh Trish!!!!
That is such fantastic news that little Joel has his harness off!!!!!! You must feel so good and so must he! What a great Chrissy present!
Sad to hear that Joel's reflux is bad, glad to hear that Sammy doesn't have it
I will keep everything crossed now that Joel doesn't need a brace and doesn't need any surgery for the reflux.
Ivy is alot better now, although turns out she was allergic to Erythromycin. Now she is on long term Amoxil until we see the ENT so hopefully we will be middle ear infection free over the Summer.
Oh Trish, My girls love you too. They say you are just the nicest person they have ever met. Especially, Immy.
Mitch, sorry I have not really got any suggestions for you but I can commiserate. Ivy likes to burn the candle at both ends and it is exhausting.
I don't really have any big milestones at the moment. I was kind of hoping that Ivy would be walking by Christmas but every time she gets sick she seems to go backwards. Noah IS pulling himself up on the furniture now though and they can both clap. I am trying to teach them to blow kisses.
Hi Girls
No real big milestones here either, we are just plodding along. Ashton is 4.5kg now and boy do I feel that extra weight when holding him to feed him, specially at the 2am shift LOL. It sounds like he might be starting to try to laugh which is very cute, but still not really a very smiley baby takes forever to get one out of him lol.
Well must dash as the other two are raiding my chocolate stash, and Lachlan decided to ring daddy at work on my mobile phone this morning before I was even awake. He apparently said Hello, dribbled stuff in his own language, said seeya and hung up. I got a txt msg from Andrew about 10 mins later which woke me up.
Going to be a long day I think LOL
Love
How cute, Kathryn! Your boys sound mischievious and gorgeous!
Ashton sounds as though he is coming along nicely. It's wonderful when they laugh!
I hear you on the weight thing. Noah is 11.4kgs and I can't carry him like I used to! Gone are the days when I had a squidgy baby in each arm!
Trish, that great the boys are getting bigger and better... they are just too gorgeous, you're lucky to have double delight!!! (as are you Tiff :D)
Yay on Noah's weight tiff, thats so big!! And i wouldnt stress bout the walking , the longer it takes, the longer they're your little bubbas... And declan was term (37w) and he didnt walk until 16 months...
Well, anneliese has started crawling!! She's only just started rolling in the last week, and holding her head and legs up while she's on tummy time (the "skydiver!") and although she's laying on her arms, not her hands, she propels herself along by her feet!! Yesterday she's moved about 2m before i noticed... its so funny, as the boys were between 8-11 months before they started, so much bigger, and my little 5kg princess is propelling herself around the place!! Going to try solids again this week, most of the time her tongue reflex just pushes it back out, and she's just not interested. So every few days i just try again...
Sorry should have altered my message.. was copied from another post hehehe....
Not much action in here lately - hope everyone is doing well and had a good christmas and new year. If you're anything like us you had a hyper child who was way too over-stimulated from all the action, parties and people and who we're still trying to settle back into a routine!
Other than that Kyla's doing good. Crawling on all fours finally and very chatty!
Well done Kyla.....YAY
Yes know the feeling trying to get the kids back into a routine. Willow is good no big changes good or bad. Hope everyone had a happy and safe xmas and new year.
Raven
Anneliese has just started solids, going very slowly as she's not too impressed. She's rolling back and forward now, and has the most beautiful smile... :)
what is she trying, rice cerial? Nixon wa sa bit unsure to begin with, now you practically cannot eat in front of him cause he wants it!
Just got the referal for Nixon's follow up hearing test. i have to make a booking, has anyone else had follow up hearing tests?
he is having it because he fell under a few of the risk factors
1. Premmie
2. spent more that 48hrs in NICU
3. Spend more then 48hrs under Phototherapy
4. Father born with hearing loss
but i am sure he will pass easily. He can definatley hear. only thing i am worried about is if he hears well in one ear but not the other.
We got a letter saying she had to go in for one too, But the Geelong hospital stuffed me around with appointment days and times so we didn't go in.But we have notced that Willows hearing is fine. Really I think they just like to get all there paperwork done thats why they wanted us to take her in.
Raven
Raven- Glad to hear that you are all good and had a great christmas!
Simone- Prems can sometimes be a bit difficult with solids! Kyla was! She NEVER liked the rice cereal but liked pumpkin with a bit or marjarine. That's great to hear that she's rolling, I bet she's really enjoying a bit more freedom to do things.
Nickers- Hi there! Hope the hearing test goes well. Kyla has had four tests - the first due to her prematurity. Her hearing is okay but she has blocked ears that have to be checked - the only issue is that she can't hear the really high and low frequency sounds. Her speech seems to be fine so far though!
Hey Carrie. long time no speak! I love your ticker pic, Kyla seems to have grown from a baby to a little girl in no time. Hey wanted to say thanks again that rattle that you bought Nixon he loves it! Still plays with it all the time its great.
Anneliese likes mango (which i thicken up with some rice cereal) and is a little unsure of banana. have made some other fruits for her (plums, banana, mango, apple) and a vege mix, as they all needed to be used. I just chop, puree and freeze in ice cube trays then transfer to containers. They keep for a while (also great for on hot days - i add to milk and blend!! smoothies!!
Anneliese is still tiny, still in some 0000's, in some 000's now. She's such a happy little princess...
Currently writing out my birth story and about my time in NICU/SCN for austprem... they're making a book (cant remember why) but it would be nice to let other people know there's light at the end of the tunnel (doesnt seem like it when you're in hossy!!) Im thinking of taking Anneliese back to the nursery's at RWH, i'd really like ot see the nurses again and show my Miss off... anyone done this?? do i call first?? I also have scrapbooked a couple of pages to put up on the "Wall" which i would like to deliver...
Hi girls!
Wow you have been chatting up a storm!
Carrie - great to see you back in here and that Kyla is going very well. It's nice to see them finally take off, isn't it?
Nic, LOVE the ticker pic!!! You little man is A*D*O*R*A*B*L*E!!!!!
Well, not much is happening here. Ivy and Noah are cruising the furniture and definately keeping me on my toes! I'm sure I wasn't as exhausted as this ten years ago when I did it the first time around! Chrissy was good and school hols are on at the moment so I am well and truly out numbered! LOL. I am going back to work at the end of this month and am not looking forward to it at all * GULP*
Simone, We have gone back heaps of times to the NICU because we have been in a study. It's weird but kind of comforting seeing one nurse in particular (who was also involved in William's care) and the doctor who was there at the twins' birth.
I'd call first and find out when some of your favourite nurses are on. There is nothing worse than turning up and nobody remembering who you are because they weren't rostered on when Anneliese was in. Let us know how you go, won't you?
THanks for advice tiff, there's 3 nurses i really want to see... they were the ones that were really supportive and helpful. We havent been back at all, they have a chrissy party but no invite for us :( And good luck when you go bak to work... just curious, what do you do??
Simone,
I'm a midwife!!!!!
And you had 6 children, you crazy buggar... LOL I dont reckon i'd make a good midwife, i'd freak out!! My mum would call you crazy (but she has 6 children too...)
Hi Girls,
How are you all?
We have had lots going on. Christmas was very busy for us a quick trip to my parents and then back home to get ready for Miss Airlie's birthday party on the 6.1.07
We had a wonderful party for her and lots of our friends from NICU came along which was great. I made Airlie a special movie and we made her a butterfly cake which is only fitting for a butterfly princess!! She got lots of beautiful items that she will have for along time. It was a strange time leading up to her birthday i was busy but i also thought alot about where i was 12months to the day. I suppose i will always have these feelings. I am just so amazed how far she has come and what she can do. In early Dec we took her to the pead and he said that she is doing everything a 9month old is doing and even what some 12month olds are doing as well so i am pretty happy with that.
I hope you all had a nice Christmas and your new year is filled with lots of love, friendship and sloopy kisses from your kids
Fiona
That's great Fiona, i read the post on austprem :) Sounds like you had a great day. For anneliese's birthday, we plan to have a party, but also visit the nurses who cared for her at the most crucial time in her life...
Thats a great idea simone we have already done that when we went to the NICU party but we do plan to go back and drop a few things off later in the new year.
Fiona
When you went back, did you call or just rock up?? im not sure what to do...
We went back when we had our party for NICU Grads so they knew we were coming to a degree I suppose. I didnt call and say i was coming though. This time when i go back I will be cause I want to make sure there a certain nurses there that i still keep in contact with now. Do you have someone you keep incontact with? If you do just mention it to them and see what they say. I tried so many times to go back when Airlie was smaller but with the flu season I was never game enough to go back I didnt want to make anyones babies sick. he slightest snif I backout.
When is Anneliese's birthday?
Fiona
