morgan we are similar my first was born at 33wks from ruptured membranes and my second was born at 38weeks!
my OB told me first time happening was 5% chance. then for second time my chances increase to 20% same as what principessa said.
I have a history of not making it very far, 3 M/C's and 1 premature birth. My last M/C at 17wks, was very similar to Brendan... except I got the infection before my waters broke. The dr's have told me i am taking a huge risk because of my history, but have also said with the right care and a good OB I can get through it.
Sally.. I think you're right, get the right Ob & the right care. Good luck with it, from what the other ladies have posted it looks like a good chance of everything being fine.
Had my 6 week @ 8 weeks check yesterday with my OB, there was no reason for the PPROM that could be found there were no infections with me, Nakita or the placenta, everything was in perfect working order.
Next time.. and there will be a next time I hope.. I will be monitored from 26-27 weeks as there is a 33% chance of it occurring again within a two week window of this PPROM (so between 31-35 weeks).
It is interesting to see what all the OB's say, either way we are at a greater risk of it happening again. But as long as you are monitored more closely, hopefully there can be a way to prevent it from progressing, although I don't like me chances as my labour progressed very quickly after the membranes ruptured. At least my OB went through what could be done and we will be just watching closer for any sign of impending labour.
Just noticed a BFP in your sig - congrats thats wonderful news. Please let me know if you are keepping blog or something similar with you new pregancy I hope it sticks full term for you.
I am interested in keeping up to date with how you are traveling etc as it won't be too long before hubby and I start TTC again.
If you don't know her story our baby girl Nikita was born 24 weeks plus 1 day but sadly got an infection and died a week later. We're nearing the "its ok to try again" time and I am terrified I will go into pre term labour again.
Please let me know as I am interested to see how others in the same boat go from conception to birth.
Guess its kind of like motivation that there are success stories out there IYKWIM
