Am I being a pram snob??

I know there is bound to be a thread about this somewhere but Scout is asleep so I have limited uninterupted time!

He will almost be two when bubs makes her arrival and DH and I had decided to go with a Phils and Teds Dash. Done all the homework on it and had lots of people who rate them so that was the plan.

Fast forward to this week and Mum rung me the other day to tell me her partner has been given a pram with a toddler seat. (he works for a removal company and gets given loads of stuff that people just cant be bothered geting rid of themselves)

It is in great condition, hardly used and is a Valco brand which is the same brand as our single pram we have now.
The problem I have is we were swayed against this style as toddler seat doesnt recline if Scout wants to sleep. It has a really wide wheel base. Much wider than ours, and the phil and teds and it doesnt seem to have easy manouvre-abilty (sp)
Am I just been fussy because I had my heart set on Phil and Teds or shall I stop looking a gift horse in the mouth. It has cost us nothing as opposed to a $700 plus that I was going to have to layby.
Anybody have one of these and love it/rate it??

    NO way.
Sorry but after going thorugh I reakon 10 prams in my kids life...i wish I had a PHil and teds to start with.
I love mine....when the kids get older the toddler seat goes on the front and yourve got the NB section to use as a 'boot'

YOu'll end up getting one either way cause if yourve got your heart set on one...you wont be able to stop thinking about it

I have the phil and ted dash and love it!!! As yet have not used with 2 kids .

A friend has a valco and she wishes she had never bought it, as for reason you said toddler cant sleep in seat.

I did tell DH I was willing to give it a try and if its cabbage I will just layby the Phil and Teds anyway as we will have lost nothing.

Thanks ladies I feel better now I felt like I was been silly and "wasting" money when we had a prefectly good pram.

why dont you just take it since it is free and see if you like it. if you dont then you can go ahead and get the other one. you could even have it on layby while you are trying out the valco and if you still like the valco you could easily cancel the layby and buy something else you need.

no - definately get what YOU want - even if it costs you lots or you'll always be thinking....then end up getting it anyway in a few months! I've had 5 - including a valco plus toddler seat and Phil and Teds. While the valco was fine the p & t i have now is just awsome - so much better (imo) - spend the cash - you know you want to :-)

Why don't you set the money aside at the same rate you would pay off the lay-by. Take the offer of the free pram and when you have set aside the $700 make the decision then. This way you know that you have tried the Valco, and if you are not happy, have the money ready to make the P&T purchase.

If you are happy with the Valco, you have $700 saved for something else!!!!!!

This way you will never be left wondering

    Hi,
I have no idea about prams, but if you don't like the freebie you could sell it on ebay or the parents market and use the money towards your ideal pram.
I want to google Phil and Ted now to know what it is all about...

I hate prams!! I only get strollers from now on... something small and light. If it doesn't go through supermarket checkouts I wouldn't have it!!

    Valco's don't!

I'd have to admit i wasn't a huge fan of the phil & teds to begin with but when i started looking around for a double pram i couldn't find anything else i wanted and could afford. Also wasn't a fan of the seats where toddlers couldn't recline or sleep.

I was in a similar situation where i had a double stoller and in the beginning thought i'd convinced myself it would be sufficient but it was soooo hard to stear, fold up and down and i couldn't imagine doing my regular walks around the block with it.

So i got a phil & teds and i'm pretty happy with it.

Give it a go since you're not loosing out on anything and if you're not happy get the phil & teds.

I'd be thanking your mum for being so thoughtful to have a pram at her house that you can use when there so you don't need to take yours when you visit....that's what I did with my mum...wasn't missing out on having my 'flash' pram after waiting all these years for a bub lol!

Oh here's a thought....get a phil and ted off ebay and save even more $$$$

You could always donate the valco to a pregnancy support agency

If it was me I'd still get the pram I really wanted....as someone else suggested, leave the free pram at your mum's. You've got to use the pram everyday, you need to be happy with it.

My best friend just did that and found one that was still in a good condition for only about $100... trick is to search words that ppl might have made typo's ie. 'teds' rather than 'ted'. then no one finds them in normal searches and the price is really low....

i like the idea of the saving the money while you use the free one.... if you decide to get the phil and ted then give the pram back to your mum to keep at her house. may as well use a free one while you can.
