Don't you have one in your car already? Most cars have at least one anchor point. Have a look in your manual that will show you where it is.
How much does it cost to have one put in?
And i know its recommended that a proffessional installs it and the car seat, how much does that cost?

Couldn't tell you, we put our seats in ourselves. You can just put it in & have someone check that its done correctly.
Its not my car its my mums and nope hers doesnt.
She has a 1998 toyota camry so if anyone knows where it would be if we completely missed it...
You can take it to the local ambulance station and they should fit it for you for nothing. Well here in Qld they do anyway.
All cars will already have an anchor point. I have a hatch and its on the back wall where the boot opens. In dual cab utes they are behind the back see and in sedans they are normally on the tray behind the back seat near the window.
Definatly check your car manual and if you dont have one call the local car dealer for your make of care. They will know.
Even a car of that age should have one, I thought it was a legal requirement that they had to have at least one, though it may be hidden.
In my car the ancor points have fluro orange tags on them....well at least they did until i took it off to put a seat in for my cousins boy,... but they really stood out.
like muminalice the manual should say.
And I would except all cars would have them, wouldn't it be a safety thing that it has to.
ps my car is a 1991 model..so you would think anything after that would deff have it too
Look in the carpet at the back of the car for a little 'flap' in the carpet about an inch across, and if you lift it there's a hole about 1/2 cm across under it. The anchor points are just threaded holes that you can attach the rest of the car seat bolt and hook anchor system to - if you're looking for these, you won't find them.
You can buy the bolt and stuff for about $10 off ebay.
Mine, in cars that never had one had a grey circle piece of plastic covering it. You just pull out the grey (or whatever colour the carpet is in your car usually) circle & there will be a hole there to screw in the anchor. Most car seats will come with an anchor.
It could be on the floor behind the seat in a wagon, on the boot wall right at the back under the door in a hatch, or on the parcel shelf in a sedan![]()
have you looked in the manual? It would say in there where the anchor point is, it could just be hidden under a piece of carpet or something.
Ask your local mechanics, a lot of them are qualified fitters (they may even have a sign out the front/on the building saying they fit car seats, I know there is a mechanic here that has a sign on his workshop).
Or ask at your local baby shops, if they don't fit them they should know who does.
Is it a hatchback? I have an Astra and our anchor point it just below where the boot lifts up? HTH
All cars made after 1975 must have them. It will be a hole, and may have a cover over it. Is the car a sedan or wagon? The covers are usually circular.
If the hole is there but no anchor point (some owners remove them happened to us with this car), you can get an anchor point kit from kmart. I think it was around $13 and you install it yourself. But the cars original anchor point will be better.
We got our first carseat put in by an RACV accredited installer (the local mechanic) and it cost $70. $30 for actual install and $40 for some extender strap because we have a hatchback, later found out they're about $25 at Kmart but I was in hospital with a newborn, DH didn't have a clue and was in a hurry to get it done so he could pick us up and take us home! DH put the carseat for our other car in by himself and got it checked by a mechanic.
If you don't have your car manual handy (I know I don't!) you could probably find it on the net....that will definitely show you where they are. I doubt a 98 model car wouldn't have one.
We used to have a ford falcon - only 2 x anchor points. We paid $20 for another to be installed...(the point was there, but no attachment). We got prof. done.
most palces where you buy the seat from will do free instalation..
in camrys if its a sedan tehre will be one in the middle under the brake light in the abck window.
or if a hatch will be on the back where the boot closes.
my parents elantra which si a 98 model has 3 from factory on the back.
thanks ladies.
i tried calling my mum but shes not answering her phone. DP did call around and a guy said all cars sold in australia legally have to have one if not the anchor itself but a hole to put one in.
