Oh also i forgot to add,
with DD i bought a Love N Care baby carrier, and it was a killer on my back. Is that just because it was the cheaper brand? Are Baby Bjorns easier on your back??
Hi ladies
I'm trying to figure out what baby carrier to buy. My MW recommended a sling/pouch one from the ABA website, its called the cooler (or something to that effect) and is 55 dollars - so cheap as chips really! Has anyone got one of these? I sound really snobbish saying this i know - but i don't like the look of them.. they're quite unattractive. She recommended it because its made of a 'mesh' and is really cool and apparently easy to put on.
I've been looking at the baby bjorn synergy aswell.. its also made of a mesh. Has anyone got one of these?? Is it really cool? Like could i go walking with it while pushing DD in the pram without bubs getting overheated? What do you think about it? any feedback would be great.
It also says on the baby bjorn website that you can breastfeed while using it?? how???
Thanks in advance for any replies.
I've been having troubles sleeping lately because i can't stop thinking about it! haha

Forget the baby bjorn.... walk away, walk well well away! they are awful IMO. Put it this way - there is a reason why ebay is flooded with them!!!
For some readily available slings look at the Close Carrier (for the first 4-6 months), CatbirdBaby, Ellaroo, Baby Hawk (from Mel Bel's store), Didymos woven wraps, bamberoo ........
say hello at baby carriers down under - the guys there will help you with a good sling suggestion (or 10)
And don't forget the Ergo if you like the idea of something with buckles. The Ergo Sport is much cooler than the normal one and they are easy to get.
Baby Bjorns are pretty awful on the back, even the back support ones are pretty uncomfortable and have a comparatively low weight limit compared to something like an Ergo. The way they distribute the baby's weight has a lot to do with that, all the weight is distributed on the shoulders, whereas an Ergo (and similar carriers) much of the weight is supported on the hips so is distributed more evenly with the wearer's centre of gravity. I don't know anyone who has successfully breastfed in a Bjorn, the fact that the straps covers the breasts kinda makes it extremely difficult if not impossible so I'd love to see Bjorn back up the claim that you can feed in one with an actual demonstration.
HTH!
Thanks for the opinions ladies. Sounds like its just as bad as the lovencare one i bought a couple of years ago - was terrible!
I'm off to go and google your suggestions! Thank you again, i would have hated to get the baby bjorn only to realise it was just as crap as the lovencare xx
Love my ergo, didnt like it much for a newborn but as soon as DS was 3 months old was great.
I have bought a close carrier for baby so have not used yet but bought on recommendations from BB girls.
I have a Tyion sling and its really good. DD is almost 7 months, and a little puddingly (sounds nicer than a fatty!) and I use it daily. And its cute too, the logo has a mum & baby on it. Google "tyion sling" if you want to have a look-see.
I am going to put my Baby Bjorn on ebay (and rave about it in my ad, of course!) because it really is an attrocious peice of back torture!
Suse is the baby wearing guru though & there are heaps of threads in the baby wearing section where she goes through the pros & cons of just about every sling on the market. I'm sure you'll find something that suits and doesn't hurt your back.
Oh shoosh - you're making me blush![]()
I'll go against the majority lol. I love my Baby Bjorn Synergy! DH wanted that particular version because it has the extra back support. He has back dramas and finds it comfortable as well. We looked at slings, I found them really uncomfortable and awkward when I tried them on and DH really like the way they held/supported DD when she was in it.
Well you are Suse! How many EXACTLY do you have? I'm sure you have one for every occasion (and outfit!)![]()
lol, Suse's post were half the reason why I dabbled in different carriers.
I currently have over a dozen but all up have tried probably 20 or so different types.
Honestly I am still such a newbie!
I had a synergy with both kiddies and will use again for next bubba. Its fantastic, I fly to Canada often and used to through aiports so babies would be in it for 4-5 hours at a time. I was super comfortable and had no problems.
i love it & highly recoment it
Hi Tellytubby...
Maybe checkout the Babes in arms website.. I just received my Hug-a-bub yesterday and while it has only had my teddy bear in it so far.. lol... I love the way the material spread out over my back and shoulders and I could feel how well it would bear weight cause I also put a 4kg container of oil in it to check the weight distribution... Have fun researching...
We have one and i hate it. Couldn't carry ds from about 2 months in it because of the pain it put me in (he was a big bub though). Waste of money imo.
