Have started pram research, DH and i looked at the Strider Plus the other day, but weren't totally sold and now i have seen the City Select, but only online and won't be able to get to a shop for a while.
Sooooo...just wondering if anyone has got a City Select already (or had one shipped from OS) or looked at one in store. I think it looks REALLY good, but obviously with it being about double the price of the Strider, i would want it to be. In saying that though, the pram is something i am happy to spend good money on to get what i want!!!
If you do have one do you use it with a baby capsule??
Any feedback would be great??
Thanks xx
This is the pram that i have spent months waiting to come into Aus, you can see it at baby bunting, i just put mine on layby two weeks ago and have been told that they are sold out till June/ July.
The pram is not suitable for newborn so i brought the bassenett to go with it at $120 i think, its uses the same frame as the seat so is the reason why it is cheap.
I have babyjogger as a fan page on my FB and read post from women that brought theirs from OS and the reply from baby jogger Aus was that it is not covered for warrenty here because of that and now she nees to send it back to the US to get repaired, i dont know what is wrong with it.
I cant wait to get mine, it is lighter than the strider but not as light as the bugaboo but has so many options if you are going to go on and have more babies!!(i hope too) I like the fact that the second seat is not right up behind the first seat.
I am currently tossing up between this pram and the Bugaboo. Yes it is a quality looking pram and the versatility is really great. The only things that are putting me off is that it is wide and heavy (not as wide or as heavy as the Strider) and that it is only new so there isn't a lot of feedback on it yet - including what goes wrong with it.
But I spoke with Baby Bunting and they said they have no issues with any of the other prams and when they do get the odd occasional minor incident they have no trouble dealing with BabyJogger Australia.
As for newborn stage I am looking at getting the capsule as I think it would have been very helpful with DS. From what I understand though you need to buy the second seat to get the adaptors - they don't sell them separately. But the bassinet is just the material that you put on the existing frame of the seat. This is where it does get pricey - all the accessories are separate and cost extra. But yes, you use a pram alot so in my opinion it is worth spending the extra to get what works for you.
So now I just have to make my decision, but I am slightly more weighted on the BJ City select because of the doubles features.

As for the newborn thing - we are looking at getting the capsule as we didn't have on for DS and I could definitely see the merits. But from what I understand is that you need to buy the second seat to get the adaptors as they don't sell them separately. But otherwise the bassinet is just the material that goes on the existing seat frame. This is where it gets really pricey - all the accessories are separate and cost extra. But the pram is something you use alot and needs to be safe for you and bub to use, and it needs to be practical. In my opinion it is worth spending the extra to get the right pram for you.

Am subscribing because I might buy a new pram. Had the Strider first time around but the footbrake is no good for my dodgy pelvis - I find it awkward to flick. Plus we're moving from the city to the country and I think I'd prefer one with air-filled wheels.
So like this one's brake and wheels - as well as other stuff of course!
Thanks guys.
Loula - I am looking to buy in Aus, so thats no problem. Won't be able to go look until after my 19 week scan on May 5th, so hopefully the back order list doesn't get TOO long!!!!
Mummy- The main reason i like the look of it is because of the capsule compatability and the second seat (planning to have 2 pretty close together if all works out to plan!!!who would know though!! ), so it doesn't bother me too much having to buy the second seat straight up for the adaptors and hoping by the time number 2 comes along you buy the adapters seperatly so i can have capsule and
2nd seat on together!!!
I know i am planning a long way ahead but if i am going to spend alot on a pram i want it to covers all possibilities for the future!!
I am currently looking at purchasing the City Select also. I have looked at the Strider Plus but didn't like the closeness of the seats and the width of the stroller. I have tried it at Baby Expo here in Perth and found it to be quite heavy handling and bulky. So, I have decided against it. The price is more to my liking tho , as you all know the price of the BJCS is very expensive. I have looked at productreview.com.au and seen the reviews that others have given some of their other BJ prams and most seem to love them so thats a head in the right direction. I am looking at purchasing at CMK in the US as they offer shipping here for a reasonable price and the saving will be at least $400AUD I would otherwise spend on it here. The funny thing is that none of the baby shops here in Perth even have one on display as yet (so........ annoying) so I can't test until the end of this month so they all tell me. So currently waiting. I just hope that it meets my expectations. It looks like the ultimate pram, so I guess well see. My son is turning 3 in July and is no where near not needing a pram so I am in desperate need of a double. I don't really wanna purchase the bassinet tho. What are your ladies thoughts?? I mean the seat reclines back enough to be almost flat (like the Strider) so I can't really see that a bassinet is necessary. I'm really excited about it's release and can't wait to see and try it out.

Thanks Kritkit, I'll check that out. What area in Perth do you live?? I've been told that Baby Land Osb Pk should have the BJCS in by the EOM so really excited
I just ordered mine.... not sure when it will be available. I also went the most impractical colour - white!! Oh well, I liked the contrast look!
I was also going to say Cazkity not to buy from OS. It might be cheaper initially, but if there are warranty issues there is nothing you can do except either send it back OS, or pay for the repairs here. Also their safety standards are not the same as ours and so there may be insurance issues of there is an accident resulting from use of the equipment. These can be as small and minor as having the brakes in red and a tether strap for your wrist which are mandatory in Australia.
As for the bassinet - the seat does not actually lay completely flat which is why they don't recommend it for under 6 months. You only buy the fabric for the bassinet, it goes on the existing seat frame so it isn't like you will have a big bassinet sitting around when not in use. But if you are planning on getting the Safe N Sound Unity capsule then the bassinet may not be worth it.
Sparkles, I found out that the adaptors for the capsule is different to the second seat adaptors. So with the purchase of the second seat you get the adaptors to put the second seat on either in toddler seat or bassinet form. The car seat adaptors will allow you to use the capsule on the frame.
You ahev to take both the bassinet and /or seat off to fold (Thats what they told me in the shotp) DH was put off a little by this but it is so easy to do and fold. i wanted white but DH said no way so got the black!
Ok just looked at the link and you can fold it with the chair attached.

I have just recently purchased the Baby Jogger City Select from Babytime, Melbourne. Initially i ordered it from CMK in America as is worked out a fair bit cheaper than the RRP here in Australia. As we were buying the whole package with the Pram, Bassinet and second seat I thought I'd see what deal I could get over here as I was a little scared that if something went wrong with the one from the US it would cost me more in P&P sending it back.
Anyway, the one from CMK worked out inclusive of shipping around AUD960 (give or take a little depending on the exchange rate). We then went to Baby bunting and the best price they could do was $1249. We then went to Babytime and they quoted us $1100. I decided for piece of mind I would pay the extra $140 so if we have any problems I can take it back to the store. We pick it up in the next couple of weeks!
I know this is still expensive for a pram but I really do love it. I compared it to the strider plus (this is what we were going to get initially) in the shop and there really is no comparison.
Great news Pottsy! and congrats on teh price! im still waiting for mine to come in to babybunting, i ordered it in FEB!! i went pram shopping with a pg friend today to help here and i was impressed with the strider plus (and the price) and was starting to regret paying all that money for the BJCS!
but now i am reading i am still happy with my choise, i do prefer the basket in teh Strider though.
