Baby MOnitors - which one do you use

just one more thing - do you think that a secondhand monitor would be ok? There are a few on Ebay in the Angelcare brand 201, 301 and now the 401 (which is new and is about $300).

Would you say a second would be ok rather than buying brand new or would you buy brand new?

Dh is not keen on sharing our bed or room with bub TBH it doesn't bother me either way at this stage but that may change when bubbie is here with us. Also with the 20 min alarm thing did that bother anyone when they were trying to get rest?

What 20 min alarm?

do you mean the alarm if baby does not take a breath in 20 seconds?? This only goes off if baby holds breath, stops breathing or wriggles of pads.

DH also didnt want to co sleep or baby in room but in hospital DS was in bed with us some nights.

We bought a new one as new model was only released 2 weeks before we bought it and also will use for 2 babies so figured was worth money. You could get a 2nd hand but I would want to pay no more than 1/2 price of new otherwise would get a new one.

Yeah see thats the thing DH doesn't like the idea of me spending so much of my money on new things and granted for something I kind of agree, but this will be our first at home baby so I think its more of an investment if that makes sense.

If it helps you relax and be comfortable baby is ok then its worth the money in my opinion.

You can wake up and look at handset and see the swinging pendulum and know baby is breathing and if baby crys you can see how much baby is crying by how many bars come up. Can also check temp of room just by looking at handset

We have the Tommee Tippee Sensor one - very similar to the angelcare one. I know Baby Bunting have on sale until the end of this weekend for $159 of if you wait until target have a baby sale they are usually about $150

The Tommee Tippee one is great, it has a green light on the monitor and parents unit that flashes so you know bubs is breathing and the alarm goes off in 20 seconds if no movement detected. Also, you can activate it so you can actually hear a 'tic' with each breath if you want too. It also has a night light and room temperature

Its super sensitive too, we can also hear bubs fart - LOL

I would definately recommend this one too

I dont see that there would be a problem with going second hand......but like feebs, its your peace of mind and comfort.....if youre anything like me, for the first few weeks you will be constantly checking to see if the monitor is working properly lol

We have angel care sound and movement monitor with 2 pads and 2 handsets too, and i love it! best money we spent! Nae i also looked at some on ebay but they went for almost the same price as new on sale so i just got new. alot of babies things seem to hold there value so you could sell it after you've finished with it.
i could just sleep better at night knowing an alram would sound if something happened to my bub, the room temp was also super handy.
