I have a babyhawk one I got through Melbel's Wrigglebots. I loved it. I wish I had of gotten one when he was a bit younger (I got the toddler-hawk) but I could still carry him at 13kg and not ever have him feel like he would fall out. I got on for SIL's bub (he's 5wks) and showed her how to tie it yesterday and she was impressed - I bent over and everything to show her how good they were and she's completely sold on them.
I have a Kleinsmekker Mei Tai - DD2 is currently in it. I don't need to support her when I bend over, but I do anyway, just in case she felt the need to push her hands on my chest and push off (she does that sometimes!)
I love it, but I love my beetlebum half buckle more cos I don't have to worry about tying the waist part.. LOL
I have an 2nd hand envirobaby mei tai which I bought from ebay (for $21 inc postage woot! bargain!).
It is very easy to use and I find that DS is happy in it. I used it from about 3/4 months until about 10 months, when he started to get a bit too heavy for really long stints. I also have a close carrier, but I got the mei tai because it started to get too hot to use the close carrier. The mei tai is much cooler. I use it for mainly a front carry - I have tried the hip carry but the straps kinda cross my boobs in a weird looking way. And I have done a back carry, but I am only confident to do that with help.
I put my hand on him if I am leaning over, but that's just as an added precaution - he wouldn't fall out.
