We had a wooden cradle on casters which was brilliant - the baby would sleep right next to the bed and DP could get up at night to hand bubs to me for a feed and then do a nappy change without me having to get out of bed or lift anything. It was such a big help! Plus as Trill said, I could move the baby around in it to where I was in the house during the day so some sleeps were in the lounge, some in the bedroom. My DD1 was a little baby and she was in the cradle for about 5 months, DD2 was not so small but still lasted 4 months so it was defeinitely worth it.
