I used it for both DSs. It was green foam. It was a good texture for a mattress. Our bassinnet has a flat hard base, so just put the foam on top of that . The foam was about 5-7cm deep.

oh that is great. i think that is the stuff we are looking at as well. it is about 50mm thickness. and the green foam as well! we have a hard baord in the bottom of the bassinet as well. That is really helpful bloom, thanks for writing back. I would have spent the more money if i needed to but i figure the little guy wont be in the bassinett tooo long so dont want to spend heaps on it! Ill have a look at target for Mattress protectors - hopefully i can get one that fits.

We had to do this 6 mths ago. Dont bother with clark rubber, while its cheaper, its a headache cos like you said, u then have to get a cover for it and imo its not safe enough. We got one cut and i refused to use it, i went straight to the baby store and spent $50 odd on a breatheasy mattress, it made me breatheasy, so i recommend getting one from the baby store

I was given a second hand Breatheze but it got mildew in it so that put me off the whole Breatheze idea personally lol.

They're nothing special when you take the cover off.
