I have the cot already for little Chloe Charlotte who is due on 7th February...but do you think a bassinet would be handy as well?
I work from home and have my own home office. I don't do phone calls, and just type basically on my computer. Do you think a bassinet in the office beside me would be a good idea, considering baby could sleep in the same room as I work?
My girls were light sleepers, so i always put them to sleep in their room, door closed, but with monitors on.
I guess its up to you - is the babys bedroom far???? I always tried to stick to one place of sleep for baby - so as to not confuse the situation.........If it were me, i know i wouldnt get any work done, i would be too busy staring at a baby LOL !!!
I bought a bassinet with wheels for the convenience of being able to move it around, baby will be in our room for the firs few months and i figure if im cooking dinner, ironing etc i can have them close.
I think its wishful thinking on your part that baby will sleep while you work! LOL! but i guess its whatever is going to be easier for you!
We bought a bassinet for our little Sam. I wasn't going to but when I knew he was going to have to come early I wanted to get one so he could sleep in our room or so I could have him in the living room with me during the day. I love it and am so glad we ended up getting one - he would look so tiny in his cot. I have actually found that Sam sleeps best when there is background noise, during the night when the house is quiet he doesn't settle well at all (but thankfully he does with the music from his mobile). I think because he was in the special care nursery for the first week of his life and they usually had the radio going most of the time so he is used to noise but in particular music. Maybe make office type noises from the moment he arrives and your plan might work. Hey no harm in trying.
No, I don't think it's wishful thinking. I had a friend who got her vac cleaner out and vaccumed under her bubbas cots while they were sleeping, and she did this the 1st day they got home from hospital. It can't hurt to try hey
Its a pretty good idea! I didnt get a basinette but our pram (Beema Q) had teh basinette section that comes in and out and we used this at first in the cot for Ethan so he wasnt in the big cot all on his own. Personally I am glad we didnt buy a separate basinette because they grow so fast and we are already having trouble trying to store the clothes and things he has grown out of. But its a personal decison, have you thought about a sling? I got one for xmas and find them great for keeping Ethan close to me when he's unsetlled and he seemes to love it.
We were given a Bassinette for DD1. It has done 2 of my cousins and my niece and someone else who had it before my Aunty got it. It is in the bedroom waiting for this little one now. If you have 2 children fairly close together (say about 2 years) The bassinette will come in handy for the early months while the older child still needs the cot. We are almost ready to start putting DD2 onto a matress on the floor, but we dont want her to think the baby is stealing her cot so the bassinette gives that gap for her to realise that she is a big girl now IYKWIM.
We have a wooden cradle bassinette and it was great with DD. I would move her around the house with me while she slept. She would sleep in our room at night and in the lounge during the day.
After DD I lent it to a friend and then we got it back for our next bub. DD used it for about 5 months and this one will probably do the same. We will probably sell it on eBay after this one.
