if he can't sit up by himself then it wouldn't be safe. They need to be pretty strong for those. Nate can almost sit unassisted and we've only put him in his twice.
Better off getting a fabric bath sling. Infa make the one I've got and they are mor laying down but supported and less likely to roll off than the plastic ones that seem so high.
